Former feral child figuring out community. Unpredictably abled activist. Remarkably successful dilettante. Sometimes very silly.

I love pepitas, but the quest for spices did so much damage in the world, we really shouldn't give people excuses not to use them.

If you want all writers to be rich dorks born rich who don’t need the money this is how you get all writers to be rich dorks born rich

If you want writers who were poor dorks born poor because maybe just maybe they have something different to say, this ain’t it
Using the belief that creators are the "petite bourgeoisie" to justify pirating books/stealing art is EXACTLY what makes it so hard for anyone who isn't rich to pursue their creative dreams

If you steal our art, you PERSONALLY are preventing us from building sustainable careers
Honestly, people calling creators the "petite bourgeoisie" makes me want to snap.

- won't retain your data
- interesting smell
- won't pretend to be your friend while dispensing dangerous advice
- minimal resource usage
- satisfying sound
- not endorsed by evil billionaires

These are great and I love the idea of us each posting a thread of interesting things we know that might be good conversation starters.

Also if you haven't checked out Doug's Snack Stack pieces, they're really fun: snackstack.net
Not that you asked, but here's a thread of intriguing (real!) food facts to amuse/bore your friends and family.

Though most don’t, some people report worsening mental health after abortion. It’s not about regret, experts say. It's more likely linked to social and medical factors, including previous mental health history. If you're in need of support, here are some resources from our full article ⬇️

Trans people have exhaustively detailed the links between the anti-trans and anti-abortion movements, we warned that transphobia was a wedge issue for the religious right to roll back women's rights, only for us to be ignored, and of course UK TERFs are setting their sights on abortion.
Kathleen Stock has written an article against "abortion permissiveness". She claims abortion requires "justification" saying the state should limit "unacceptable decision-making" by women about their own bodies.

This is who anti-trans activists proclaim as the feminist thought leaders of our time.

this is a really good 🧵. It explains what an actual elite person is and how they get to 'be in so many rooms' without relying on conspiracy theory.
“Elite” is a pretty contested term and seems to shift between referring to a fairly small group to referring to anyone with a college degree and white collar employment. But Larry Summers really is a useful exemplar. There’s people like him that just get to sit at every single table somehow.

Wow, this must be one of the most popular things I've ever posted on here, guess I hit upon a sentiment a lot of people were feeling? So, can you do me a favour?

Advocate for the art you love. Talk about it, uplift it, introduce it to others, leave reviews. Let's not just focus on the negative.
Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.
