Reintroduction post! I am a science writer/journalist who also writes science comics in collaboration with @makinaro.com . My cats are Callisto and Nebula. I post about science, music, comics, politics, cats, porg karaoke, and human rights. Racists, anti-trans/anti-queer bigots, etc. will be blocked

Callisto (a stripey brown white and orange cat) and Nebula (a dark gray cat with silver paws) lounging in a sunbeam. They are almost but not quite cuddling.

Old Norse had a special word for the blue-black color ravens are: bloð (pronounced bloth with a voiced th like this or with).

It’s also the color Odin wears, and the color Hel is on the dark half of her body. In sagas it’s the color you wear when heading out to die on a vengeance quest.

Bad decision of the day: I needed something from the storage unit, and it naturally was all the way in the back. So, I completely rearranged the unit so that *anything* might conceivably need before clearing the unit out can be reached. Now I'm ready for bed.

yeah that was exactly it: they were the least wealthy people in their wealthy neighborhood and went to a school that was similar (and didn't hang out with the kids who weren't in that social set). I grew up ... not that way.

Entire way of experiencing movies that zoomers will never remember, that people my age barely remember, where you watched something because it was on. Feels like there is an entire genre of movie that was meant to be seen in that format. You couldn’t make Swordfish (2001) today.
