I keep getting better at adding alt-text and making it part of the rhythm of my online conversations by having this button on. Writing alt-text as my default means that I never forget it and it becomes my normal. Make alt-text your normal!
It is also three in the morning where I am
I just wrapped up two apple upside down cakes and two double portions of buttermilk cornbread (one southern style and one sweetened), and I’m so tired

What is also cool is having to wait until March for a neurologist appointment. Here’s hoping my near solid three weeks of migraines don’t imply an urgent medical emergency!
In short: Migraines suck.

Since February, according to my latest analysis, almost 600,000 Black women have been economically sidelined. The November 20, 2025, Jobs Report makes clear this isn’t a blip. It’s a structural crisis. That is not a recovery. It is a redistribution of opportunity.

I had managed to avoid Part 1 because I don’t know how many hours I have on this plane of existence and I want to spend zero of them on the affairs of terrible people if I can help it, but the screenshots of the above the paywall excerpts…I regret *being*

Yesterday I opened the internet and Trump had accused federal Democrats of seditious behavior deserving summary execution

Today I opened the internet to see that he’s a one-man Mamdani fan club

I am not ok

You should start with calling out your GOP colleagues, who mostly prevented Trump from being barred from office the last time he attempted to kill members of Congress for disagreeing with him. They’re going to do the same ostrich act for this. You’re going to treat them as normal.
The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted.

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

Exactly how I needed to start my morning (that’s only a little bit sarcastic)
This Day in Labor History: November 20, 1536. The conquistador Hernán Cortés buys a bunch of Mexican silver mines and acquires between 100 and 200 Native slaves. This moment is an excellent entry point to discuss the labor history of early Spanish colonization of the Americas.

This remains the provision that makes me want to smack the taste out of Democratic Senators’ mouths—with votes
Breaking: The House voted unanimously, 426-0, to strip a provision in the funding bill that allowed senators to sue the government for $500K if their phone data was searched without their knowledge.

The provision was designed for GOP senators to sue over the Jack Smith investigation.

Every time I see a list of terrible votes taken by Democrats in the House, I get to look at the name of someone I went to school with and be totally unsurprised
These 20 House Democrats just joined Republicans in voting to fully repeal DC's police reform laws.

Wiping off the books critical laws on use of force, transparency, and preventing violent cops from getting rehired.

They think that they should have more say over DC police than the people of DC.

Democrats should have not defended her. She deserves censure.
The House has defeated a GOP plan to censure Del. Stacey Plaskett D-VI and kick her off the House Intelligence Committee. 6 Republicans refused to go along with the plan - and those were the key votes.

This is going to sound like a wild idea, but we should move the DoJ from the executive branch to the judicial branch and make it like a 10 year appointment with a 2/3 majority for confirmation. The DOJ has always been vulnerable to this type of corruption; restructuring should aim to protect it.
Absolutely no way to read this and not conclude that the Department of Justice has been deeply corrupted. And this is from a time when career lawyers were in place, pushing back against illegality. With firings and resignations, the politicization will just get worse.
