Got the Humble Bundle of 170+ 2010s Image TPBs, which still doesn't nearly cover all the good stuff Image put out then. I had maybe 60% of them already but a lot in individual digital issues (back in the days when Image had its own storefront, sigh)

If you need a new Christmas tradition, make it Nutcracker Fantasy
Nutcracker Fantasy is hands down the most gorgeous stop motion movie ever made. It's MOM Productions, the studio that did work for Rankin Bass, at the height of their prowess. It should be on TV every year. aftermath.site/sanrio-film-...

Both the "Continue" button and the "Try it now" button do *the same thing* in what is the clearest example of a dark pattern I've ever seen. Imagine someone is getting metrics about the "number of Google Docs users who are using AI" and all the numbers are total bullshit.

Every time we talk about comics industry treatment of freelancers, somebody among our ranks inevitably burrows out of the woodwork like, “Actually this is just how it is, don’t you know,” and I 🙄. Look. I can clearly observe that this is how it is. I still insist that things should be better.

I will note that, once again, @people.com does a better job here of reporting accurately while upholding human dignity than many of the supposedly serious outlets. The ethos of Teen Vogue lives.

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.
Torture Techniques from CIA Black Sites Were Used at Alligator Alcatraz
Amnesty International, interviewing migrant detainees, identifies use of the confinement box. There can be no denying it is a torture prison

Pichelli has since said this was taken out of context from an off-hand conversation she had at a busy con with someone who did not identify himself as a journalist and is twisting her words for click bait

Which is extra fun since this is the post that took off and doesn't even include a source link
Miles Morales co-creator Sara Pichelli says she does not get any royalties from the ‘Spider-Verse’ films, Insomniac games, or merch

We have never been so aware of all the things there are to purchase, and the frictionlessness of shopping apps disguised as social media has created an army of voracious buyers. What has this abundance done to us?

Dude. Yes. Alito and Thomas are of course the standout examples, but all of the Republican justices have tells in their writing and their questioning indicating that they are, to varying degrees, marinating their brains in dumb bitch juice
My theory, fwiw, is that Supreme Court Justices are not immune to Twitter brain poisoning. I suspect all six have horrific information environments and have therefore lost the ability to understand the people who don't agree with them.
The part that I can't figure out is what John Roberts thinks he is doing. He used to seem to be a judge who was very attentive to appearances, I think on a theory that you can't draw too much attention to yourself without undermining your ability to continue to shape the law.

there's a lot to hate about bluesky but the grossest part is its overwhelming censorious prudishness
Saw someone saying you shouldn't interact with NSFW accounts online if your account isn't also purely NSFW and FUCK THAT BULLSHIT.

They can adjust their settings to avoid nudes and porn. You do whatever the fuck you want to do you freaks 😘💙

No print mags have the reach they once did. But it's notable to me that I keep seeing articles like this in People, very broad-spectrum, apolitical, at least in my experience. Gives a sense of how much this stuff is breaking through.

A quick and dirty way to start sussing this out is to ask yourself, “Is this person really trying to help a group of people or does it look like they’re trying to punish someone right now, in this moment?”
Yeah. Sometimes, behind all the bellowing and bluster and fluency in social justice verbiage, you might observe a person’s behavior and realize their vision of justice is just “When is it my turn at the top? When is it my turn to do the violence?”
