New Lancet meta-analysis finds measles vaccine immunity wanes over time, with seropositivity dropping from ~93% within 10 yrs to ~83% at 16–22 yrs.

The authors say their findings warrant an urgent review of vaccination strategies

Measles Vaccine Protection Wanes After a Decade
Individuals who receive a measles-containing vaccine maintain seropositivity for a decade; however, the vaccine’s protection declines gradually thereafter.

I feel so bad for the kids. No one’s looking out for most of them & the ones whose parents are trying to protect them from repeated infection w/a vascular, immune-disrupting disease often get told they’re “crazy” & should force kids to “get back to normal.”

The new normal just keeps getting worse.

Hegseth wasn't chosen as merely a Fox News buffoon who then bumbles his way into war crimes out of machismo incompetence. He was chosen specifically because he is, and has been for a long time, a proud, open, and explicit advocate of war crimes as a good thing we should do.
A chapter in Hegseth’s book is literally titled “More Lethality, Less Lawyers.”

It’s almost as if there were signs!

In case you’re wondering why Pete Hegseth is freaking out about a congressional video reminding the military not to participate in illegal orders:
To put a finer point on this whole thing: "Two people with direct knowledge of the operation" — presumably uniformed military leaders — are accusing the U.S. Secretary of Defense of personally ordering specific war crimes. That's a historic accusation.
Textbook war crime/extrajudicial killing

"Two survivors were clinging to the smoldering wreck. The Special Operations commander overseeing the Sept. 2 attack ... ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions."

Me: "I'm writing this stuff for myself and it's about me learning how to write and it does not matter if people see this. If I do post and get no reaction to it, that's fine."

And then someone leaves a really nice comment and it makes my day. (Even just a Kudos delights me.)

This was so timely for me! A reminder to stay chill and have fun. I'm writing a scifi horror, extrapolating and imagining and catastrophizing about two dozen centuries into a specific kind of future. It's a lot 😅

Also, the bonus feature on Oleta Adams added yet another gem to my listening library!
So many visions of the future are already proven false. We didn't have Star Trek's Eugenics Wars in the 1990s. No flying cars in 2015 — sorry, Back to the Future.

In my latest newsletter, I explain why it's good for future visions to come with an expiration date.

I look around and see so many people making and sharing such cool things with the world & think about how much more of that might happen if there weren't people out there who hate everyone who isn't like them & who want to police everyone else. We should let people live & help people thrive!

Hegseth order on first Caribbean boat strike, officials say: Kill them all
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a verbal order to kill all crew members in the Sept. 2 strike on a suspected drug boat. Navy SEALs fired a second missile.

One of many things you might call your representatives about. Leave messages, do what you can to make your voice heard.
Every single congressional Democrat needs to be out there, right now, insisting that Pete Hegseth resign right now and announcing that he will be held accountable for committing war crimes.

If you do not demand accountability here and now, they will only become more emboldened.
Exclusive: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gave an order to “kill everybody” in the first strike on suspected drug boats in the Caribbean. After two men survived, the mission commander ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions, according to two sources.

Thread. I love the reveal that there's a big chunky magnet on the back. Also I like the front of this a lot (better still if the watch hands were still bright orange).
If your car in the 1940s-1950s didn’t have an inbuilt clock, you could get the Auto-Watch from Westclox of Canada, having a big magnet glued to the the caseback (back when dashboards were made of steel). Very inexpensive but reliable watch. The green “luminous” is fake/simulated. Dial is cheap paper
