That’s the thing, it really feels like the beginning of the end, especially if you look at COD trajectory. At first it’s just a couple images, then it’s the sounds and voices, then it’s the writing, then it’s the animation, and then it’s the fucking everything and it’s just shit from an ass
Damn. I've been regularly playing since 2019, but seeing this AI stuff spread throughout the game is incredibly disappointing. Coupled with Sweeney's statements and it feels like a real death knell.

I'd not see how blatantly widespread it was in the spot art pieces or the music. Thanks for sharing.

“People don’t have a choice if work makes them use A/I”

I refuse to use A/I. I voice that on any project I touch.

If you’re making “A/I dubs” of animes, you’re the same as a scab during a strike.

Just because it keeps YOU secure, doesn’t mean you’re absolved from the damage you’re causing others.

I'll say it again -- I'm on my firm's AI committee: every canned demo has had brutal, malpractice-level errors, and every live trial has required more time and care to vet the output than to just do it, like working with an unteachably incompetent associate you'd need to sit down for a Hard Talk.

I love insinuation from the AI weirdos (including Bsky’s own techno-libertarian staffers) that we who aren’t on board for AI are “anti-tech” as if a ton of us aren’t tech dorks ourselves

I was in tech professionally for nearly twenty years! Some tech is just bad!

Okay but if you're using it in the classroom... where people are supposedly learning the information you're asking ChatGPT about... how would you even know what's accurate or not...

I really want to start pushing this on our reps because, if we can look for a sec beyond the horror of the current administration to a better time, it's something that we want to show the population has a strong appetite for now

Not perfect but way better than this
Been saying we need a government run payments processor since it would be bound by code and constitutional restraints. Which payment processors aren't. They couldn't necessarily stop payments at will based on "corporate values" and even if they did, there would be redress through the courts.

Final accountability post for November. Day 30.

I wrote 1,901 words tonight. I'm in the turn now. The MC is falling apart and I feel like I'm going with them.

I won't post these everyday anymore, but I'm going to keep working on this.

Several major universities are essentially giving up their ability to teach students much of anything with the hopes of avoiding repercussions from awful people, that care nothing about the academy. Seems like a losing battle to me.

Every sensational claim I see about AI reduces to this When you test AI on a task class you find that it fails to replace the human effort in the task. It shifts effort while automating a reduced set of activities within the task.
I’ve been automating analytics for years and this is well known.

“conservative media” here just means “all mainstream media” because conservatives have total discursive and media hegemony, all the “liberal” media is also culturally and discursively conservative, just with a more “centrist” self-image
This is a huge part of why so many people think we're in the middle of a widespread "anti-woke backlash": Small movements opposed to social progress are collected into trend stories by conservative media. Far larger movements that want more diversity are ignored or cast as threats.
"Woke is ruining D&D". Meanwhile Dimension 20, one of the wokest real play shows around, just sold out Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl for live shows and brings armies of new players to RPGs.

As someone who works in the tech industry--absolutely.

They are testing the waters. These are top-down orders. The ONLY way to stop it is a visceral negative reaction. Write articles. Post your rage. Email. Post. @. All those things.

Only you have the power to kill it.
Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.

tl;dr: Only CEOs want this. Tell them how much you hate it. Be loud, email, call, @, post. You will kill this.

🧵⬇️
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.
