History indicates that yes, to the extent anything continues, a majority of non-conscript, non-mercenary troops will remain loyal to the nominal state. Elites will jostle for their loyalty.

I have long believed that we should be WAY more vocal about how police and ICE constantly murder dogs, and I think this is great messaging actually.

The reality is that you can mobilize a whole lot of usually tuned-out Americans around a “someone is being mean to hecking doggos” cause.

But if you really care about this and are worried, you need to support action in places where chik is endemic. Just because NYC is threatened, some people will now take this seriously. But if we had a functioning CDC that participated in global response, NYC likely wouldn’t have seen cases.

NEW — I dug into the story of ICE abducting a 13-year-old boy in Massachusetts and moving him 500 miles across state lines without notifying his mother, local cop's complicity, and how the federal government's justification for such cruelty is already falling apart:

ICE took a 13-year-old they said had a gun. Local cops say he didn’t.

Now he's detained 500 miles away from his Massachusetts home.

Buy the adaptation rights to a series/setting I think is great but lacks "mass appeal" and fund a high-budget, probably animated, adaptation.

Make gestures at every stage towards commercial profitability but not care at all; pay overmarket upfront and backend to creator; etc.
