Unpopular opinion - all the bad shit Trump is doing is not a distraction from the Epstein files, it’s his actual agenda. He wants the facism.

BUT the Epstein files are *our* way of distracting him from *his* agenda. And to a lesser extent, his Qanon followers.

Some people think I’m not a real pastor, or a real Christian. They can think that. I’m accountable for how I pastor to my God, myself, my congregation, and my bishop. But not men on the internet. And I’m a better pastor when I don’t need to spend my energy reading exactly what they think of me.

The good news in the Book of Ruth is that God does not judge, and may even bless, what you have to do to survive, and with you in the worst of times. Which is very good news indeed!

But friends, the Biblical Book of Ruth is a survival story of women who took their lives and destinies into their own hands. And Ruth goes from respected wife to immigrant who engages in sex work. And is praised for it!

And Naomi is the active force, not Boaz.

But the Book of Ruth is not a rom com.

I watched Ruth and Boaz on Netflix, just to make sure I’m not talking out of my ass about something I haven’t seen. And it’s not the worst rom com I’ve ever seen- it’s as cute, sweet, and dangerous as the best of them all

But don’t get it twisted: that is not the plot of the Book of Ruth.

Make it a habit to help whenever you can. I truly believe this is the only way even some of us will get through the time ahead.

Help someone else. Give your lunch to the panhandler. Give your neighbor a ride to the dr. Give cash to the next mutual aid request you see.

People of faith, I strongly recommend praying before and after reading the news.

In order to respond as the Divine would have us, we need to be centered in our values and to be our bravest, wisest, most loving selves.

And praying will help. I promise it will.
