Trump: "I don't think there's anything that's gonna get me in heaven. I think I'm not maybe heaven bound. I may be in heaven right now as we fly on Air Force One. I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to make heaven."

This is insane. I feel like I’m going insane when I’m watching this. Not just the fact that it’s clearly their fault, but the way a heavily-armed squad of masked thugs immediately jumps into the street and brutalizes the woman they just hit, despite having no idea who she is.

ICE GOONS crash into car and then point weapons to kidnap man.

You'd think they would, because those are issues that individual men can actually address! They're learnable skills they can work on!
rtodkelly.bsky.social
I never took them up on it, mostly because it just seemed really disrespectful of their faith for me to go and pretend.

It's weird that the media's identified problem of male loneliness is always women or feminism. I never see mainstream, centrists writers talk about the problem of, I dunno, too many men not being interesting, or not being willing to listen.

there's a whole lot going on here

I honestly wonder to what degree this happens anyway? When I was a young man, the people who encouraged me to go to church waved off me not believing as a reason to not go, saying "oh, a lot of people who regularly go don't; you should go."
fakegreekgrill.bsky.social
Mainline protestantism as a way of organizing for goodness has been increasingly appealing to me, but I have no idea how the churches would feel about having basically fake congregants, lol.
ciggysmokebringer.bsky.social
Dad's wife is an Episcopal Priest and it's been a trip seeing the greying of the congregations in different places and there being a kind of 'oh shit, what do we do then' thing about it with trying to be more family oriented, but also renting out the church for community services like treatment

My boss: so how's our fourth quarter looking?

Me, the sales manager at the company that makes inflatable frog suits: well, you're never going to believe this, but

The Daily is also a great window into the mind of a NYT political beat reporter.

They'll talk about, say, how Trump said he would sent the military into blue cities, and then admit how surprised they were when he did because it was against the law and norms so they assumed he'd never, and, well...

On the recommendation of friends, I have started listening to the NYT's The Daily, and frankly I'm of two minds.

OT1H, it's pretty informative w/ great storytelling.

OTOH, there's a *lot* of "the President says that all of Portland is in flames, but Democrats claim that it isn't."
rtodkelly.bsky.social
Yes! But even more than that, remember how apoplectic it made them to see a print ad with a young man in glasses and pajamas? I think this hits that exact same button for them.
rtodkelly.bsky.social
I also suspect they just instinctively anger the other side in a way even screaming Antifas hurling Moltovs would not achieve.

Blown away by how good an idea the costumes are. More shareable and fun than pics of a regular protest, and it’s immediately clear that the protestors are non-violent.

Independent C-SPAN caller to Rep. Mark Alford: "You're taking credit for $50b that you just gave to the hospital industry. That's after you took away $150b. You don't take credit for just giving back a little bit of money after taking away so much. So quit lying. It just makes you look horrible."

It really is. And I was so sure it was going to be garbage!

I remember when they first announced they were doing the show, and my first thought was "how could they have allowed themselves to jump the shark this badly." But it's the best live action thing DC has done since Dark Night imho.

And now I'm wondering: how is Netanyahu's political coalition going to respond to part of the cease-fire deal being Qatar getting a military base in the middle of the US, and have their fighter-plane pilots trained by the US Air Force. Because I can't believer their heads aren't going to explode.
