The GenX split hinges on race & urbanism. If you were born in 1974 you lived through the Central Park 5 the Crack & AIDS epidemics, Rodney King, OJ & on & on before you were 25. If you were watching from some cul de sac none of that seemed real. But in the cities…
Backing up The Argument in NYT/Siena, Gen X still has an astonishing 49% approval for Trump (!), while Boomers have dipped to 42%.

Gen X is currently tracking at 12 pts to the right of the electorate on the generic ballot. Now 9 pts to the right of Boomers, which has to be the largest gap ever.

Definite uptick in Bluesky content aggregators taking legit clips regarding Minnesota from a few days or weeks ago and posting them without any sort of timestamp context, which gives the impression of them happening today, which then gets clicks. Be vigilant with what and how you share.

One of the hardest things to explain to people who aren’t here is the very real feeling that we are in a war against the federal government. Not only are we occupied by unaccountable armed, masked paramilitaries, but we are constantly aware our neighbors might be abducted in the blink of an eye.
Was he actually approaching Minnesota as a regime change

I would really appreciate if journalists who have done ridealongs would speak up about how important they are to helping Minneapolis. As I’ve said many times, opsec fears are the greatest threat to the networks we’ve built. But the reason we’re out here is to show the world what’s happening.
Ridiculous. @chrislhayes.bsky.social did a ride-along that was played on @ms.now last night - the piece threatened nothing and was good 'publicity' for the cause. Hopefully they'll come around for you, Will. Thanks for what you're doing for our city & state.

my son is five, same age as Liam Ramos. you don't need to have a child the same age to be fucking horrified by the violence we are doing (and HAVE BEEN doing) upon immigrant children in this nation. but that he keeps asking for his spidey backpack is the kind of detail that rips my heart in two.

Because they're evil.

I don't say that lightly.

They get off on abusing people.

They don't care about optics and PR because they only see that tools of needing to be constrained and they don't think bad optics will constrain them.
what’s astounding about this is not only the incredible cruelty but the complete lack of even the most basic public relations instincts

they kidnap a five year old and generate national outrage and rather than do some basic window dressing to treat him nice while abusing everyone else they do this
“[Liam] keeps asking about that hat and that backpack that are in the picture,” the congressman said. “I think they took that from him.”

This is a tipping point.
- 61% have an unfavorable opinion of ICE (The Argument/Verasight)
- 59% say ICE is too aggressive, up 10 points since July (Fox News)
- 58% say ICE has gone “too far” (Reuters/Ipsos)
- 55% have very little confidence in ICE (YouGov)

As someone who was in the Army in 2010 I am always kind of puzzled by "the Dems accomplished nothing while they were in the majority in congress" rhetoric because overturning Don't Ask, Don't Tell was actually a very big fucking deal to a lot of people that I served with.

Right now, Democrats have the power to defund and abolish ICE. We should do it. This is about right and wrong—and the murder we are seeing on the streets is just plain wrong. Anyone who supports funding DHS and ICE is supporting the murder of Americans. We can stop this.

This stuff needs to end.

A. There are about 100K voting locations in the US. There are maybe 10K ICE field agents. They never do big actions w fewer than 5-6 agents. Do the math.

B. Even if they did, so what? Chicago & MN show that the harder ICE/CBP pushes the more determined Americans get /1
This giant ICE Army they are building this year is also likely to be at polling places during the midterms in heavily Democratic precincts with the excuse being that they are looking for “illegals trying to vote.”

I get the sentiment behind “maybe don’t work jobs that would cause you shame and public ostracization” but like. Sex workers are right there, they’re not hurting anyone, and they are dealing with violent and sometimes life-ending stigma because of their jobs. Let’s be a little more specific maybe.

A fun fact I like to share with students is when Border Patrol was founded a century ago, there were more Border Patrol agents on the northern border than the southern border. Because during Prohibition, the US considered Canadian whisky to be our greatest border security threat.
