to temper that a hair, i think people generally need to start wrapping their head around what prosecutions into a likely field of pocket pardons look like, because it's not going to be anywhere near as satisfying as you want it to be

In some sense the “real (private) bigotry level” is real and the canards are meaningless, but at another level what you’re allowed and expected to say changes the trajectory of what people think and what groups do.

there have been a lot of responses to this arguing that young Republicans were motivated by such feelings but didn't express them openly

and I think a crucial lesson of the Trump era is that there is great value in people not expressing these things openly! that's a big and decisive change!

For those tempted to say Young Republicans have always been this way, they really have not. When I worked on campus and did bipartisan college events after, they were very much not like this.

That’s why groups like YCT and eventually TPUSA formed — because Young Republicans weren’t radical enough.

i'm a faithful catholic trapped in high fantasy.

according to the catechsims of the catholic church, i am prohibited from using magic and sorcery even for restoring health. if i become a cleric or paladin for christ, am i still prohibited from casting cure wounds? does this extend to revivifies?
