it's interesting because right wingers won't shut up about triggering the libs, liberal tears, etc etc but on a deep level what they want isn't for us to be angry, what they want is for us to apologize and admit they were right all along
Like 30% of the country is absolutely enraged because they thought they were going to be able to be utter shitbirds without anyone being allowed to call them shitbirds, but here we are, calling them shitbirds.

The heart of what a fair amount of MAGA is for its adherence is just loneliness and what a lot of them want is reconciliation with families/friends—just, you know, in the most toxic way possible that demands nothing of them.

Yeah 👇
Trump putting the Washington Post and CBS News in his “Offender Hall of Shame,” even as they bend over backwards to curry favor tells us that nothing short of full propaganda mode will ever be acceptable to him. There's no way for a news organization to maintain credibility and be "fair" to Trump.

The psychology of this website is so transparent. They're not attacking progressive media (who don't give a shit) so much as they're naming access bootlickers who already often cater to the WH anyway — because they’ll actually freak out and change their coverage *even more.*

Just working the refs.

I'm just reiterating Propter's point much more bluntly here, but yeah the entire lab leak hypothesis has always carried with it the unspoken implication of that the very notion of a "laboratory" itself is evil and science is evil and we should abolish it all.
these guys love a lab leak theory because they hate science
While Makary spreads bullshit about the origin of HIV.

(To be clear, this has been thoroughly investigated and fits neither the timing nor the molecular epidemiology of HIV).

ChatGPT seems to be the epitome of our modern information environment where emotional valence & attention rule over all questions of fact or causation, to our total detriment. It is a answers machine that neither succeeds at telling the truth nor at challenging falsehoods

Kathleen Hall Jamieson once did a study of talk radio listeners during the Hillarycare debate of 1993-94. She found that "Of all the people we watched, they said they were the best informed. And of all the people we watched, they were the least informed. And they were also the most cynical."
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.

Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.
News media has to do better with headlines that present false and unverified public health claims.

An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.
