No bailouts. The US should extort these companies when the crash happens so they get minimal compensation in return for nationalizing the entire panopticon industry and then destroying it once harvested for socially useful parts. It won’t happen but it should

I generally try not to comment on Twitter but Isaac Chotiner is over there giving Semafor body blows right now and I just want to say I find it alarming that he's allowed to come for you without warning (asking for an interview)

A lot of my boys write for Liberal Currents, and if you're going to give your money to something besides Ukrainian Military units so they can kill Russians—you should actually give them money.

It's very much worth having a liberalism that's confident in itself.
Larger media outlets have wavered since the first Trump term, but we've remained steadfast in our categorical rejection of MAGA in all its aspects and our affirmation of liberal democracy and the principles that it rests on.

Mainstream protests against Trump echo an old idealism, dating back to Bakunin, up through the New Left, and recently Graeber and Sanders. Meanwhile MAGA has appropriated the vanguard-building of Lenin for fascist ends.

Brief: Graeber vs Bannon, Anarchism vs Leninism (Part 1) — Conspirituality
In this first of a two-part series, Matthew digs into a century-long debate within revolutionary politics—one that now shapes the fault lines between MAGA authoritarianism and the fragmented resistanc...

in theory, this is what the "human terrain" project was. In practice, it sent people *without experience or knowledge of Afghan kinship structures* into Afghanistan.
My infantry Bn had a really hard time parsing the gender and sexuality issues of Southern Helmand.

When people say, "you wouldn't want a 'purple haired gender studies major' in the Marines" I reply "YES we desperately needed them!" We had teams of anthropologists who published studies for us.

Man, the scale of that Free Birth Society grift really shows the incredible size of the white woman market for failed-state infant mortality levels. It's so disturbing & sad while also unrelatable to me as the child of doctors produced by massive 3rd world investments to bring down baby-dying stats.

The FBI deciding it needs fiber optic drones is certainly another spectacular example of how MAGA 2.0 very openly views the American people as hostile foreign enemies, and normal American life as a Ukraine-like war zone.

Which is, of course, dangerously insane.
The FBI requesting fiber-optic drones is incredibly dumb and also very funny

Yall think your threat model is “jamming with electronic warfare weapons” and not “your barely-trained pilot wraps your way over-priced American made fiber optic drone cable around a Chick-Fil-A drive through sign??”
FBI Wants To Add Fiber Optic Drones To Its Arsenal
Fiber-optic-controlled drones, ubiquitous on the battlefield in Ukraine, could be headed to the FBI's armory.

I had a popular account with a valuable audience and my Twitter payout was $80 a month-ish, to the point where I disabled monetization instead of uploading my ID. Payouts are only material if you live in a developing country, so “guy in Nigeria posting right-wing Amerislop” has taken over the site.
Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

It's funny when you think about how "productivity gains" physically just means "arranging the world to make things cheaper and easier to do" and we already got all the low-hanging fruit like "plant all your crops in monoculture rows" and "maintain your roads" so now capitalism has to kill itself
