A publisher who lays off a reporter whose pen is freezing because she's covering a frigid war zone while dodging missiles is not an editor you want to work for, in a more perfect world

This is a choice by Bezos. He can take unimaginable financial losses. He could also sell The Washington Post. I don't know what else to say except give your money to non-profit news media organizations. They will never sell you out and will spend your money on mission and not profit.

A staggering statement from former Washington Post editor Marty Baron: "This ranks among the darkest days in the history of one of the world's greatest news organizations."

I’m especially saddened about the demise of Post Reports, which I listened to regularly. I sincerely hope they repurpose the talented audio journalists who work on that production.

It’s heartbreaking to see a (very recently!) once great news organization dismantled and sold off for parts.
WaPo's Matt Murray told staff the paper is shuttering sports, moving remaining staff to features, shrinking foreign coverage, restructuring metro, closing books coverage, suspending Post Reports podcast

These people reverse-engineer new racist theories for this when a) there are some obvious ones already on the table and b) it would also just be useful to admit that the social and financial value prop on paying $200,000 to go to a small liberal arts college somewhere cold and dismal is upside down
We only want the good immigrants who study hard and don't commit crimes, unless they try to take little Brayleigh's (28 ACT, 1350 SAT) God-given slot at an Ivy away by being smarter, in which case Korematsu didn't go far enough

I think it’s just a reporter struggling to turn brain worms into something coherent.

I'm no skiing expert, but one might reasonably assume that knee ligaments are required when hurtling down a mountain at 70mph.😬
Lindsey Vonn says in press conference from Italy that she tore her ACL in a crash Friday — but aims to race in the Olympic downhill Sunday anyway. Said she skied today, and will wear a knee brace.
