The Lib Dems are fundamentally a party that puts together social liberals with moderately-left economics with social liberals with moderately-right economics, and consists of people much more prepared to compromise on economic policy than on liberalism.

💷 £90 billion in lost tax revenue... EVERY YEAR!

❌ That is over £20 billion more than the entire education budget. Scandalous.

No one can be surprised by the rank hypocrisy of Murdoch's 'Trump is a feminist hero' and 'Ending Roe v Wade was right' Times. But worth noting the difference between when it gets what it wants from the judiciary and when it doesn't.

Sometimes people are like "aren't you worried about the kids and their nonsensical new brainrot memes"

But like, the thing is, I can still spot a member of my internet generation by how they respond to "badger badger badger badger"

Playing with language and rhythm is fun, it'll be fine!
One of the things we've enjoyed the most about the six-seven phenomenon is the way it comes with a gesture, which we've also seen represented in emoji form as:
🫴 six-seven 🫳
“6-7” belongs in the dictionary, actually

Now changed, though I still don't think the framing is great

also just in general maybe dunking on people for being virgins is something most of us should have left behind in high school.

Like... why is it a good thing to have had sex? why is it a bad thing to not have had sex? and do these norms have any negative effects we should be concerned about? (yes)

just as an FYI u are not going to beat a bigot loser or fascist troll by trying to dunk on them for being a virgin, for example.

If you're acknowledging their existence at all you've basically already lost because the whole game for them is to get noticed and hold your attention.

The whole game.

2. This doesn't mean the IA process doesn't work! Quite the opposite. It has forced the government to be transparent about the fact that its anti-immigration agenda means higher taxes/worse public services *according to its own analysis*.

That's why they tried to avoid publishing this.

A couple of explanatory points.

1. This does not mean the policy is illegal! The Equality Act does not stop govt doing things that hurt people with protected characteristics. It just requires them to justify that by reference to other policy objectives -here reducing net migration.

Home Office Ministers state publicly, on the record, that they are deliberately making life worse for older people and people with disabilities who depend on care services, but it's worth it because it reduces net migration.
