That bloke who does that podcast your annoying friend keeps trying to get you to listen to. He/him. Posts every random thought in his head. AuDHD and not many filters. If you're only interested in my podcast you probably don't want to follow.
Pinned
Now we finally have pinned posts I can pin this and take it out of my profile:
Do *NOT* share screenshots of my posts to my podcast's FB fan group. This is not, for the most part, somewhere I talk about my work, and I don't like personal stuff about me being shared on platforms I'm not on.

Graeme Hart, 42, and his wife Karen, 43, issued a joint statement about their son, Finley, five, saying: “You don’t understand how hard Finley’s autism is on the whole family. Do you know how many times we’ve seen the same episode of The Octonauts?”
Parents of autistic boy in ABA: “We torture him out of love”
The parents of an autistic boy have released a statement explaining that they subject him to a cruel and humiliating therapy designed to make him behave less like himself because they love him.…

the first result on google search for your work brings up a bigot blog from someone who hasn't read the book and seems extremistly bothered by tweets from people who are not you.

This link isn't that. This link is the one to your book so people can buy it.

I was mostly joking when I texted the words "sometimes I think the most intimate relationship a British man can have is a comedy partner" to my mom last week. But it might be the truest thing I've ever said.

Once again gonna recommend the QAA podcast where people who worked with him on a cop show had to constantly tell him that he couldn’t actually do what the character did (like beating people) and that he had to pretend instead of doing it for real

But the good news is, by doing this, we defeated racism in the UK.
Government has now - belatedly -published the impact assessment for the changes to skilled worker and care worker visas announced in May.

Impact is estimated between -£2 billion and £-10 billion (central - £10 billion).

Autistic Women Oversharing is now open for sponsorship! As a growing new podcast, this is probably the cheapest way to get advertising out to our audience and it will only grow, so if you’re looking for a bargain before it becomes even bigger, now’s the moment.

I feel like every convert to any form of anticapitalist politics has a moment where the cognitive dissonance between what we’re told capitalism does and what we see with our own lying eyes becomes unbearable.

Or at least that’s what happened to me.
all the fake AI trash really contradicts one of the main ways we're told capitalism operates, with capitalists identifying wants/needs & developing products & services to meet those. turns out you can skip that step & just pretend. nigh everyone hates AI and it makes no money but it's everywhere

Louder for people in the back: the court rules trans women are not prevented from using women's spaces. Also your weekly reminder from a business school professor that trans status is still a protected category under the Equalities Act (2010).
The kind of judgement the media could easily trumpet as "TRANS WOMEN ARE NOT PREVENTED FROM USING WOMEN'S SPACES, COURT RULES."

But instead they lead with the complainant (regarded by the Tribunal as an unreliable witness) winning some procedural issues against her employer.
Decision in the Sandie Peggie case.

She was not directly or indirectly discriminated against, her claim of victimisation fails entirely, her claim of harassment fails largely and her claim against Beth Upton fails entirely. www.judiciary.uk/judgments/sa...

Seeing various people mocking a local paper story about a woman complaining about how difficult a 1.5 mile drive to work is for her because of bad roads, saying it's much easier to just walk.
I'm never one to defend drivers, but not everyone is *capable* of walking a mile and a half. I'm usually not

Looking at the papers and broadcast media today having read the press summary of the Sandie Peggie judgment is wild.

They either haven’t read it or are lying about it.

And then people wring their hands about trust in institutions or bemoan people resorting to social media for news.

Is it time to relitigate the title change to Analog from Astounding?

Something I just noticed on isfdb: Analog Science Fiction and Fact, July-August 2025 is listed as published by Must Read Magazines but the September-October 2025 ish is listed as published by Trevor Quachri. Did I miss some news?

GenAI is fundamentally a different process. It creates a thing wholesale with a single human input, and then you have to try to wrestle it into a shape you want with the actual process of creativity. Hence all the swift cuts in the McD commercial.

Like (preaching to the choir here, I know) but almost any kind of human endeavour is at its heart an iterative process. That's basically how the things we do work. We learn and improve over time. Art, craft, sports, whatever. You train your body to do things through repetition.

This was my instinct with it as well: it's *hard* and it takes a lot of work, but that's because the tools are shitty. Like, you can make great art with limited resources - sometimes it even helps! - but genAI is almost actively working *against* artistry because of the way it's created.
I've spoken with someone who made something similar recently and I don't think the studio are wrong in their description. Think of it closer to a digitally composite animation patched together from an unreliable generator.

e-ink screen, no apps, no browser, maybe a basic email client so you can send stuff, USB port, nice keyboard (possibly detachable).

Tribunal: *finds that Sandie Peggie harassed Dr Beth Upton*
British Press: Hahaha no, that's not the story we already decided we like, they must have said it wrong, we'll just say the opposite thing happened ☺️
#C4News went above & beyond, reporting:

"a nurse has won a harassment claim against Dr Beth Upton."

No she didn't. NHS FIFE harassed her, not Upton.

This is almost defamatory, & they mentioned none of the dismissed parts or the implications for trans women in SS spaces. I complained to Ofcom.

It says a lot that AI “artists” are so creatively bankrupt they think writing prompts is a difficult, arduous task.

You realize coming up with a prompt is what a real artist would call “having an idea,” right?

It took them weeks of sleepless nights to have some basic thoughts.

Another reframing is to present bigotry as personal choice, and then be loud about it.

Imagine a white guy who doesn't want to date asian guys. He could indulge this bigoted preference by rejecting advances from asian men and not pursuing them; but instead he puts "no asians" on his public profile.
If the bigotry is strong in them, they push back on the social cost by reframing their bigotry as:

● Being honest about unpalatable "facts and science" which are entirely propaganda
● A philosophical disagreement with their targets, reframed as a group with a belief rather than a type of person.
