That bloke who does that podcast your annoying friend keeps trying to get you to listen to. He/him. Posts every random thought in his head. AuDHD and not many filters. If you're only interested in my podcast you probably don't want to follow.
Pinned
Now we finally have pinned posts I can pin this and take it out of my profile:
Do *NOT* share screenshots of my posts to my podcast's FB fan group. This is not, for the most part, somewhere I talk about my work, and I don't like personal stuff about me being shared on platforms I'm not on.

shallow cis bitch 2 cents: this shit is directly a tax on me, a person with trans friends and family members whomst I love and wish to prosper, and instead of living in a god damn society we will all be doing inadequate GoFundMes forever and goddamn it, we don’t have to LIVE THIS WAY
this week, congress has agreed to ban trans participation in sports at military academies and the opening bid to fix aca subsidies bans trans care coverage on obamacare exchanges

why does it feel like we’re not seeing a five alarm fire from the lgbtq+ advocacy groups yet

When I am finally victorious and my ideological enemies thwarted, all who opposed me shall be lined up and dutifully distributed their equitable share of the rights I fought for and they so vigorously opposed, because That Was The Fucking Point
nah dawg this is petty as shit

these people got brainwashed with propaganda and fearmongering

wanting only people who didn't vote for Trump to survive is misanthropic and gross

Books The House at Pooh Corner by default (I've not read many 1928 books despite reading a lot from years around it)
Visual art Escher's Tower of Babel
Music Ellington's The Mooche

It’s the Martin Scorcese discourse all over again. People have become utterly unwilling to acknowledge any distinction between pop modes of creative expression and “high” art modes, to the disservice of both.

And I’m not even saying Saga is bad. It isn’t. Not by any means. But it’s… you know… it’s not that *kind* of art.

I feel conflicted about the comics / literature discourse, because on the one hand, of course they’re literature, but on the other hand, people are out here claiming things like that Saga is totally on par with Moby Dick and like, no, no it isn’t, fuck off, do you even read, bro?

Gentle reminder that the European Union was established because the first four decades of our 20th century were mostly internecine war and genocide.

I can hold two truths in my soul at once: every man in her story is a creepy-ass predator who should be marooned at sea, and also she's an ethics black hole who may have brought upon a new age of victorian era infant mortality.

people who can't hate them all need more spite in their hearts, I guess
Possibly the only thing more freakish than Nuzzi's prose is the contortions her defenders twist themselves into. "She's not just hot, but she definitely is hot, while also being a vulnerable smol child. Also, criticizing her is sexist."

not sure how to square ‘no one person can be reasonably expected to pay for every media subscription’ with ‘sorely underpaid writers need to make a living’ but my inclination is not to locate that problem with any of the broke ass people on either end of the complaint

No, I didn't.

It's just fucking bizarre to imagine thinking that you're *only* "needed" in context of traditional masculine patriarchy roles like husband/father/provider. I'm an insecure mass of neuroses, but even I'm OK with being "needed" as a friend, a son, brother, for my work, as a member of my community...
My essay does, however, dismiss this “message” because it’s hogwash. Nobody is telling men they are unwanted at home—quite the opposite—but reifying this “message” does make it easier to vilify single moms (and stereotypical nagging wives).

If men need a "place," why is that place always "in control of women?"

Turns out that this fits with what she's said about how she wrote it—that she used her phone while she was on hikes to compose the first draft—and it also fits with why it wasn't caught.

Because that kind of transcription is going to introduce SO MANY basic errors.

The more I mull this passage, the more strongly I suspect that Nuzzi dictated the book into a speech-to-text program that misheard "caricature" as "character," and that neither she, nor her editor, nor her copyeditors or proofreaders, caught it.
And then she seems to be saying that the "character of myself imagined by others" is the "viral allegory of hubris, female avatar of Icarus." That's not a character of herself so much as a caricature of herself. Or just a character, full stop. "character of myself imagined by others" doesn't work.

I say this because he feels just the right kind of out-of-touch to go after two actors who, their true talents and qualities and general inoffensiveness aside, have a cultural presence that feels like two slightly different flavors of "Oh it's that guy!" imagine complaining about Wilford Brimley
