There's this woman doing an absolutely wild social experiment on TikTok. She calls random US churches with the sound of a baby crying in the background, explain the baby hasn't eaten in over 12 hours, and asks for 1 bottle of baby formula. She has a public spreadsheet of how each one responded. 1/3

Honestly, this is the most perfect replication of a deeply drunk walk that I’ve ever seen from a robot.

Right down to that raised hand—I can literally hear him slurring “I’m all right!” just before he face-plants.
Russia unveiled its new humanoid robot, AIdol, in Moscow and it immediately collapsed👏🏼

My very first color-work knitting project! I free-handed a pair of leg warmers using a skein of adorable yarn called “Truffula Trees”. I bought it from a fellow indie dyer as treat for myself.

I’ve combined the Truffula pinks with a skein of my BC Jade, which really makes them pop like crazy. 😍

So this morning I get an urgent email for a same day cardiology appointment at my local treatment centre.

I was surprised (and alarmed) but fine. I moved things around and went there a few minutes ago.

Only there was no real appointment. The receptionist said I wasn't supposed to receive any 1/

I am having terrible crippling pain in my back and hip this month, and I still went to the pool to exercise, washed my hair, shopped at THREE DIFFERENT PLACES, and came home to make an absolutely gigantic pot of chili for people in three households.

Pain killers and hero cookies all around, pls…

Jeezum Crow, wtf is wrong with people?
Under-the-weather TikTokers are slicing raw potatoes and placing them in their — and their children’s — socks before bed. The theory is that the potato draws out toxins.

However, experts warn against relying on folk remedies over medical care.
No, putting a potato in your sock will not cure a cold

U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis recited Carl Sandburg's 1914 poem "Chicago" while ruling on immigration agents' use of force. Literary scholars say they were “astounded” and “amazed.”

Wow. Really interesting work.
In Mother’s Little Helper, a horror cooking game about intergenerational family trauma, 2D representations of dad start with ink! Cause it’s such a grown up medium. Things that represent the player ( a child) will start with crayon. #indiegame #gamedev #horrorgame #cookinggame #handmade

What he said.

AI-Generated Everything is like wax fruit. It may look real to a casual glance, but you take a bite and—gah. No flavor. No texture. No nourishment.

No terroir.
The tides of genAI imagery flooding the nonexistent halls of our internet will likely not have a lifespan of 10 years, let alone hundreds. They're a ghost accretion of late capitalism, an anti-history that obscures humanity & time, the opposite of art, whatever its subjective quality.

I just finished playing the Iron Rig expansion of Dredge and whew. What a beautiful finish. The team has really outdone themselves this time.

Also—the new “oil” mechanic, the way you can clean up toxic spills with your boat?

Yikes. That hit me a LOT harder than I expected, emotionally.

A generation from now, if/when the Zoomers and Gen Alpha are cleaning up this mess rather than surviving the fall of our civilization, there are going to be some changes to laws, regulations and building codes that will re-structure the world as we know it.

Here are my best guesses:

We have beaten diseases and public health challenges before. But we won’t do it this time by “being kind” to people who make up their own facts—or listen to the charlatans who do.
But you refused to ensure vaccination compliance in our school communities.

You transformed public health into "do your own research" and "be kind" even when it was clear that the anti-vaxxers from the 2000's were leveraging internet-based misinformation tools to run laps around you.

Yeah, if I see one more “eat more beans” post I am going to start shanking people. People have this idea that the things they used to eat during their “poor student” says twenty years ago are still cheap.

Wages have stagnated. Prices for food have not.
Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor losing all of his titles over just the possibility of the Epstein files coming out tells me all I need to know about just how bad the contents are, and why the Republicans are so desperate to never let it out.
The thing that’s so fucked up about the Epstein files is that if they’re bad bad for Trump, it’s gonna come out, and every Republican who knew what they were doing protecting him is gonna get flayed for it. And if they weren’t bad for him at all, they’d be out already.
