Once when canvassing I asked a voter his #1 concern and it was "yard sales are not enforcing sales tax"
Actual Voters have takes so much wilder than anyone online could imagine
I read this as Tim Robbins and I was like “Sure, why not?”

Then? Then I learned to read.
Rephrased:

Option 1: 100 people with 1,000 rifles
Option 2: 1,000 people with 100 rifles

You pick 2 every time.

Even if you lose 50% (people / rifles), you end up with 500 people and 550 rifles.

And every one of those 500 people now has a reason.
“I have 10 guns, my buddy Crazy Steve has 10 guns, and Right Wing Rick has 10 guns. What are you gonna do about it?

Buddy, that’s 30 guns between 3 people.

I’ve got 10 guns and 9 friends who need em.

And it looks like we just found 30 guns.

I think that the fall of our society will be traced, in part, to the decision to treat attention as a core KPI.

I think the impact of this metric is to the digital economy as Reaganomics is to the physical one.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

My mistake, you are correct! I generated the file, but I did not give you a download link — let me go get it for you [pretends to walk down stairs behind couch]

If I may paraphrase film!Aragorn, 'Open tyranny is upon you, whether you would risk it or not.'

It has not won, but neither is it 'coming.' It is upon us, and the only question that remains is what to do about it - and how to break the inertia of those hoping it won't come just yet.

this is the most Portland sentence I've ever read
i am not trusting the moving company contract to protect three human skulls that are all more than 100 years old, dueling pistols that are more than 150 years old, and several two-headed taxidermy gaffes that are basically impossible to replace

They won’t even give the movement a name as they did the Tea Party.
Remember April 2009 when about 250,000 people took to America’s streets in Tea Party rallies and the media was like “oh man, the Dems are in trouble?” Approximately 28X as many people took to the streets to protest Trump yesterday. Didn’t even make the NYT front page.
In April of 2009 I observed the Tea Party rally in Salem. As this front page story says, there were a couple hundred people there. This past weekend in Salem there were roughly 2-3000 people at the Hands Off rally. Yet the Tea Party coverage seemed to take that event far more seriously.

3 days of a general strike would cripple the US economy. Union rules apply, if everyone does it together, they can't fire everyone for doing it.
Italy just managed one that was hugely successful. the US has done it before. General strike now!! #political

I've never worked in a newsroom but I've worked on campaigns and organizations that leak like sieves and ones where no one leaks.

Want to know what causes leaks? Toxic management. Always.
so here’s the thing, Bari, you’re running an organization full of weapons-grade gossips who hate you www.nytimes.com/2025/10/19/b...

I take no pleasure in this but going to a different city with your dumb buddies and getting badly injured because you antagonized a bunch of strangers and fell down twice chasing the 110lb teenager who stole your sunglasses actually is North Jersey Excellence, of a sort.
