Because of the price of eggs, I give you the classic Great Depression-era recipe for Crazy Cake, both in the original chocolate and vanilla versions. No eggs, no milk, all deliciousness.
Crazy Cake

Mix:

2 c. Sugar
3 c. Flour
6 Tbs. Cocoa
1/2 tsp. Salt
2 tsp. Baking Powder
2 tsp. Baking Soda

Make 3 holes and add:

2 tsp. Vanilla
2 tsp. Vinegar
6 Tbs. Oil

Stir in 2 cups cold water and mix until free of lumps.

Bake at 350f for 30-35 minutes. For cupcakes, bake at 375f for 15-18 minutes. Vanilla Crazy Cake

Mix:

2 c. Sugar
3 c. + 6tbs Flour
1/2 tsp. Salt
2 tsp. Baking Powder
2 tsp. Baking Soda

Make 3 holes and add:

2 tsp. Vanilla
2 tsp. Vinegar
6 Tbs. Oil

Stir in 2 cups cold water and mix until free of lumps.

Bake at 350f for 30-35 minutes. For cupcakes, bake at 375f for 15-18 minutes.

Yeah, it's been true for pretty much forever that little old ladies turning out is a sign that a protest movement will succeed.

I think you guys should stop posting literal /pol/ memes about those scheming, thieving, rootless cosmopolitans who only know how to steal rather than create, to be frank. Juniper I am unsurprised by: she after all found the Bucha massacre hiLARious. The Serfs I thought were more thoughtful.

the reason many jews, including non- and anti-zionists, are upset by this meme is because it relies on an older antisemitic trope about jews being a parasitic race with no culture of our own. but a consequence of diaspora is that our culture has always been enmeshed with the societies we live in.

They're really mad that the inflatable costumes are going viral, because heaven forbid that people are making fools of ICE instead of doing what Stephen Miller wants

People miss the fact that the naked bike ride is itself a protest. It was started to draw attention to bicyclists safety, as well as the environment. It’s not just a quirky “keep Portland weird” thing.
kebrightbill.bsky.social
That would require the people doing gatekeeping to actually know anything about protest history

Let's crash the helicopters on protestors and detainees, as well as random buildings, I say, building broad coalitions.

as a person who lives directly under the flight path of these helicopters, i would prefer you did not try to bring them down

your tactic of protesting in an inflatable frog suit which gets normal people on your side is far inferior to my tactic of posting about laser blinding helicopter pilots which is both wildly illegal and, were it to succeed, would put basically *everyone* against me

dude wut? that's legit the whole reason that i'm trying to (legally) get myself on The Lists.

if you wanna take a swing at a white straight christian lawyer, by all means knock yourself out. it will end in embarrassment and diverted resources, which is a win condition for me any way you measure it.

Someone in my mentions is upset because these people haven’t suffered the worst at ICE’s hands and therefore they shouldn’t be praised for being out on the streets?

Yeah, no. To push back on these people we need everyone — especially those with relative privilege — to get up and get involved.

So you're going to ask the people at highest risk of harm from ICE to put their bodies on the line for people at the lowest risk. Tell me you're a chickenshit without telling me you're a chickenshit.

Will never understand people who are upset when protests go mainstream

Isn't that the fucking point

It's kind of insane how some of the same people who think the entire reason why we're here is because of the atomization of American society and resulting collapse of community are also getting mad at people rediscovering it in a time of crisis

I encountered at least one person of this genre on the other place, and I often lock my political posts because you attract them somehow, some way. They find you, and weasel in. People with some sort of severe depression issues that project them onto others in such inappropriate, uncalled for ways.

Also, while "Abolish ICE" has been the normie Dem stance where I am for a very long time, that's not been true everywhere in the country, and it's absolutely a good thing that normie white people who have never been in high stakes situations in their lives are turning out to defend their neighbors.

Trying to remember where it was that MLK famously told white moderates not to support the movement because they hadn’t experienced the worst aspects of Jim Crow themselves.

The fact that protests now feature people who don’t normally have to worry about what might happen to them in an adverse encounter with security forces is a HUGE DEAL.

It means that the “real” victims don’t have to suffer alone. It means that some people care about something more than themselves

working on a feature on a similar character at the moment and the advance TL;DR is that these guys are pretty good at making themselves feel unavoidable and intellectually overwhelming, when their reactionary views are very often just incredibly pedestrian and unoriginal, it's their main strength

Reading Thiel, Yarvin, Peterson et al. makes you realise what passes for intellectual iconoclasm these days is all absolute bollocks. Why anyone gives any of these people the time of day let alone credibility is baffling.

I deleted a post of me in a frog suit with my 7-yr old daughter because a big account reposted, admonishing us for not being serious enough protestors (or something). I shouldn’t have included my daughter in the image, which was why I deleted it. But I was stunned by the condescension.

The replies on this one are genuinely dismaying. Just a sea of people who don't know nearly as much as they think they do and will dig their heels in forever to argue otherwise.

This joke is funny because it's saying Israelis are fake, rootless people who steal all their culture, see? Not a real ethnicity whose material culture is rooted in their blood and soil. No, some kind of sub-people.

This meme was heavily pushed by an influencer who claims Israel killed Charlie Kirk
