do think a huge issue with american manufacturing across all subset of the sector is that vast majority of firms are smaller, barely professional firms with middling producitivity and the advanced/big firms generally rely on the shitty middle/bottom for their supply chain

Its amusing to me how people, yankoids, britbongs and generally other mentally ill groups try to define VdL as "lefty", "lib", "communist" or whatever

When the woman's ideology is literally "the eternal fat boot of Franz Josef Strauss on your neck for eternity telling you how he fixed the roads"

The MEK having strong bipartisan support after the invasion of Iraq is probably the ultimate “politicians sometimes just take money from foreign entities without looking into them at all” moment.
He’s a supporter of the People’s Mujahideen of Iran (MEK). This is not a joke.

“Petrodollar” should be reserved for when large US petroleum trade deficits led to $ outflows that needed to be recycled and high oil meant a weak $. It is absurd to use the term for the $s behavior after the shale revolution when it behaved like a commodity currency in response to +ve ToT shocks.

the burgeoning Hallmark Abundance genre
I don’t always agree with of the broader political takes from some “abundance”-coded pundits but man the abundance critics are just pure nonsense merchants

like, what’s this guy’s deal? literally making up a guy to dunk on the idea that cities should build more housing and transit.

Military history devoid of social, cultural, diplomatic, literary etc forms of history is essentially meaningless. Knowing what soldiers and armies did in battle without understanding why they did them, the cultures that produced them, or the industries that supported them is pointless.

Did the French bourgeoisie Really Understand Baudelaire? No, but that's not really the point either, he was still part of their style

The essence of Blue Labour thought is that somewhere in Downing Street there is a button marked “reindustrialise” that Tony Blair could have pressed, but instead he opted for the “more Woke Studies” button.
My brother in Christ, reindustrialization is based on international capital flows, not dumbass ideas to move down the value chain by turning colleges into vocational schools. You do realize that modern industry is almost always *high* skilled automation?

Read your Michael Pettis, you utter clown.
No reindustrialising? Our academic institutions are a part of the problem, overproducing elites and funnelling them into bullshit unproductive jobs. Half the universities need to close or become vocational colleges. You didn't even mention productivity.

Brexit is in the past. That ship has sailed.
