Learning about these two men is really making me rethink my stance on immigration enforcement.
Before, I thought we should abolish ICE.
Now, I think we should abolish ICE, *and* CBP.

A few broader thoughts:

1) This election happened, period.

2) It happened in Texas, no less.

3) It happened even though Trump himself took an intense interest in winning it.

If Trump could cancel elections or ordain their outcomes, then why didn't he do that tonight?
BREAKING: Texas Democrat Taylor Rehmet just won a *massive* landslide to flip a deep-red Senate district. He's up by 14 points in a Trump+17 seat—an overperformance of more than 30 points.

How did he do it? Here's our full writeup:

i so wonder what this coyote felt and thought as it looked at alcatraz from the shore
i've been watching the coyote on Alcatraz's progress with great interest. a week-ish ago, a coyote SWAM to Alcatraz for the first time and looked fuckin rough after the dangerous swim. but the coyote is doing fine now, gorging itself on unprepared birds & rats who are dealing with a sort of Godzilla

Four months of shootings and deaths. This doesn't even count the neglect and death in their concentration camps. Fuck. This. Shit.

Abolish ICE, prosecute and imprison its leaders, impeach and remove the President from office. This is the only sane reaction to a group of armed men kidnapping and gunning down our neighbors in the street.
As tens of thousands across America protest the violence that ICE sows with impunity, federal agents shot and killed another person in Minneapolis today.

ICE terrorizes our cities. ICE puts us all in danger. Abolish ICE.

Today is the day. Right now hundreds of Minnesota businesses and institutions are shut down. Thousands of people are refusing to work. There’s a massive picket at the airport. Minnesota’s resistance to ICE today is changing the tenor our fight against fascism.

Britain's center-left party has been tacking rightwards to try to pick up voters from the right.
The result has been a bunch of terrible policies, their base absolutely hates them, and they've picked up basically no right-wing voters.
PAY ATTENTION, DEMOCRATS.
24% of people who voted Labour at the last general election now plan to
vote Green or Lib Dem.

0% of those who voted Reform at the last election now plan to vote Labour.

Destroy ICE.
Destroy the DHS.
Enforce the War Powers Resolution so Presidents can't send troops gallivanting off to any part of the world without anyone else's say-so.
These are the *bare minimum* requirements of de-Trumpifying the US.

Greenland is Inuit Land. US & Europe playing tug of war with Kalaallit Nunaat, it will be Indigenous people who suffer most. Colonization is not a distant history.

Under a colonial system built on white supremacy violence never disappears it only reiterates itself, sometimes dressed up differently.

If you read a translated book, or poem, or anything, and the words move you or the prose excites you: remember the translator.
Because those words are theirs. The original text is the plan. It lays out the structure and the goal, but the translator makes the choices that get you there.

One thing people forget is that the US supports plenty of dictators right now, it has supported dictators in the past, and it has installed its own dictators in other countries through regime change operations.

The US doesn't care that Maduro was a dictator or bad, they care he opposed them.
it really doesn't matter whether maduro was "bad"

Gerald Ford did very little as president, but he made one huge mistake: He pardoned Nixon. Since then, the government's policy has been to avoid the appearance of political persecution by refusing to prosecute bad actors in government. This has emboldened people like Trump, and has to stop.

An administration driven by greed, cruelty, and frankly a sort of empty-hearted boredom. The death of innocents so they can beat their chests and line their already fat wallets.

It's a great year for the public domain!

"Duke Law School’s Center for the Study of the Public Domain highlighted Piet Mondrian’s 'Composition with Red, Blue, and Yellow' (1930) as a particularly exciting addition to the public domain in 2026...."
January 1 might ring in a new year, but it's also a day when copyright protections expire for a bunch of cool old stuff that we can now freely access, republish, reinterpret, and revitalize.
