then u see transphobes targeting eg nb ppl/gnc pply/youth/athletes/etc, feel ur conditional cis-conferred acceptance/access/legitimacy 'threatened' by association, fail the solidarity check due 2 internalized transphobia & scramble 2 justify y u "deserve" what u "earned" internally. then externally.
ket.bsky.social
ex: for some people the reinforcement learning of perform cis expectation -> 'diagnosed' by cis authority (can be the 1st external validation in ur life!) -> 'rewarded' w/ hrt -> feel better hits hard esp if u still haven't given urself perm to just be trans & need it not to be ur 'fault'/'choice'
ket.bsky.social
ur picking up on 2 with wu but it's complicated due to the historical & ongoing interplay of transphobia (external & internalized) w/ medicalization/dysphoria/safety/self-conception/politics. ex: having to lie/perform a stereotype to access med care can fuck w/ ur head esp w/out community
ket.bsky.social
our main 3 uses, can be cross-pollination:
1. older people with decades of identification with the term for various reasons
2. transmed/truscum (several strains on a spectrum, including overtly fash ones like wu)
3. regular people using it ironically/intentionally for rhetorical impact/reclaiming

"You make the best of it all and hope you can help make it a little better for the gurl after you."

- Miss Major, 2023 💔
One of the things I hear with some younger trans people I know is they feel, "I'm gonna get this surgery, and I'm gonna learn that way of speaking, and I'm gonna be done." You're never done. If you're a straight, cisgender person, you're never done. Things are always happening that have the potential to change you. So all I am today is not who I'm gonna be tomorrow, because of the things that happened to me today and later tonight. People forget that. "Oh, after I transition, I'm gonna be through." Well, good luck with that. 'Cause if you're through, then it's time to leave, you know, and I don't wanna go anywhere yet.
I'm in my seventies. Why didn't I stop? Number one is community. My gurls. I've had moments of thinking about stopping, but I didn't. I made sure I would step back, reju- venate myself, and then got back out there, and that's how you make a way. Our stories are not all the same, but the destination is: to get some place where we have some peace and harmony, and we can be at ease with ourselves and the people around us. You make the best of it all and hope you can help make it a little better for the gurl after you.

Very bad: OSU unilaterally cancelled the registration of grad students attending the joint conference of the National Society of Black Physicists and the National Society of Hispanic Physicists. And OSU won't fund recruiting at the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science.
Ohio State changes policy on group conferences after Trump administration threats
A federal investigation into potentially discriminatory practices at Ohio State prompted the university to change its policies regarding conferences.

It was an absolute joy to write about the Texas Archive of the Moving Image, a nonprofit that works tirelessly to preserve Texas' film history by digitizing tapes and film before they degrade. Their website is a treasure trove of cool state history: www.chron.com/culture/arti...
Meet the people preserving Texas history, one home movie at a time.
Your home footage may be more special than you think, the nonprofit says.

If anyone wants to *partake in history* it's "Dream Lovers" (1980) featuring Sulka
razorgirl.diy
1) we now have streaming video with a monstrous ffmpeg pipeline that feeds into a horrible numpy script and then gnuradio

2) we built an antenna to improve signal (cut a 64cm length of wire and taped it to my wall)

This is the first commercially produced adult video featuring a woman with a dick

yeah we just need the democrats to control the senate. when the democrats control the senate they will definitely do good things people like. the whole fascist project would really be on the rocks if only democrats controlled the senate. y'all'll rue the day the democrats control the senate.
117th Congress (2021–2023)
Majority Party: Democrats (48 seats)
Minority Party: Republicans (50 seats)
Other Parties: 2 Independents (all caucus with the Democrats)
Total Seats: 100

Note: From January 3, 2021, to January 20, 2021, party division stood at 51 Republicans, 46 Democrats, 2 Independents (who caucused with the Democrats), and 1 vacancy. Both Senate seats in Georgia were up for election in 2020—the Class 2 seat held by Senator David Perdue, and the Class 3 seat held by appointed senator Kelly Loeffler (special election). No candidate in either race won a majority (50%+) as required by Georgia State law, forcing run-off elections for both seats held on January 5, 2021. Senator Perdue's term expired on January 3, 2021, resulting in a vacancy until the winner of the run-off election was sworn in. Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock defeated Perdue and Loeffler, respectively, in the run-off elections and were sworn in on January 20, bringing the party division to 50 Republicans, 48 Democrats, and 2 Independents (who caucus with the Democrats). Democrats hold the majority due to the tie-breaking vote of Vice President Kamala Harris.
