That Europe is exceptional in its historical disregard for individual life.

(There’s something to this, Europe being the only continent to regularly subjugate global populations. But the simple version fell apart pretty quickly.)

Read an argument the other day that nuclear armament was worth it because it meant leaders could no longer be sheltered from the effects of war.

A specious argument, to be sure. But it fundamentally rewired my brain on why billionaires are racing to space.

We don't see a ton of APs with older adults as major characters. I am grateful to Cai for conceptualizing a premise that centers our relationships with our elders and their relationships to each other. As someone who didn't/doesn't have close elders in my life, it means a lot to me.

For sure! Other examples that are less obviously Dramatic include: where to leverage resources (NPCs, supplies, etc.) both in terms of combat and in terms of politics/scheming and mechanical sacrifice (see The Suffering Game from TaZ)

In an upcoming show, I gave a PC a choice: embrace the ghost of their former lover in a final goodbye or dismiss the ghost and get a chance to save his brother.

I won't say which he chose, but I will say every other PC LEPT to their character sheets to find some way to help.

Hard choices! Beyond the obvious roleplay implications, I’m always SHOCKED at the level of mechanical interplay players lean on to try and subvert or affect the consequences.
