I'd like to play you some music that my band and I have taken far too long to finish. We gigged this one over a year ago; it's about the retreat of corporate pride, and it's given me an opportunity to indulge my Talk Talk obsession a little bit.

Since at least 2018, right-wing extremist Christians have been quite open that trans people were the thin point of the wedge. This lawfare will not stop, even when they get a favourable judge. It’s death by a thousand cuts. This is what happens when the shite side has millions to burn in legal fees
In the Sheriff Appeal Court, an Edinburgh man's case against Natwest claiming £35,000 in damages for breaches of the Equality Act as a result of his "phobia of Pride-related paraphernalia" has been dismissed. www.scotcourts.gov.uk/media/ygvbue...

So fed up with this bullshit. And cis people, try and imagine for a moment what this constant egregious crap feels like for trans people. This is the kind of shite gay people had to put up with in the 80s when AIDS hysteria seemed to be pushing us backwards

It looks like every Irish outlet (that I've seen so far) has just transcribed a wire services report about the Linehan trial that is *dripping* with anti trans bias, misgendering the victim, calling the teenage victim an "activist" but not Linehan, and eliding the fact that the victim was a child

Look - I agree that, broadly, the BBC is a force for good in this world, and privatising it or losing it would be a net loss for us all.

And then I see performative cruelty done in the name of the public interest, and I just do not give a fuck.

Fix it. Then we’ll talk.
Truly grotesque that the BBC chose to describe the *victim* of Graham Linehan's *crime* for which he was *convicted* in these terms. I can only conclude that this is now standard BBC editorial practice for referring to trans people, regardless of context. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I don't know the criminal standard specifically but Linehan did say *in court* that he was motivated by the victim's status as a trans person. If a clear statement of explicit prejudice isn't enough then you need a new standard.

In several reports lately, the BBC has used the misgendering slur "biological male" when referring to trans women, including Sophia Brooks today. It's clear that they wrongly see it as neutrally adding clarity to "trans woman".
Tell them to stop.

the picture that emerges of british courts is one of normative middle and upper class people determining the life conditions of the rest of us according to their own prejudices
Someone ask the judge what her reaction would be if she was on the receiving end of what Glinner did, *then* followed it up with that performance in court?

But of course we all know the answer anyway.

I don’t like subtweeting people I consider online friends, but there is a subset of people who are very worried about the ongoing radicalisation of our political elite but won’t ever acknowledge the echoes with the radicalisation of their colleagues on trans rights
And few who are sympathetic to us, some who are friendly with me on here, will ever stick their head above the parapet

In my experience of emailing Neil Gray, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, who's my MSP he'll respond when it's something they can blame Westminster for (Supreme Court) but I get crickets when it's something actually within his power
Something that should be laid at the feet of Wes Streeting and likewise the SNP dragging their heels in Scotland -

If hormone therapy saves the lives of trans youth, what, logically, does that mean denying that care achieves?
1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.

It is genuinely insane to see a judge describe Graham Linehan as a “generally credible witness” in a trial where he claimed Sophia Brooks has been engaged in “trans activism” since 2013 (when she would’ve been 6 years old), then, when challenged, claimed her drivers license lied about her age.

Seen some people misunderstanding the point of TSN pointing out our previous communications with the government about this. It's not because we expect them to have empathy for trans people or to listen out of the goodness of their hearts. It's to prove that they know exactly what they're doing.

There is no other word for it? They just began an obsessive campaign of legal and political attack on our rights, which trans people - as a scattered and isolated group with limited political connections - have been unable to do much about.

A decade ago it looked like it was possible to hope for trans rights to get better in this country (from the "OK but a lot to be desired" that it was before). We were being treated with respect and dignity for the first time. This sent many parts of the British establishment insane.

Increasingly the state of trans rights in the UK is that things that have been settled aspects of these rights for more than two decades are being stripped away. The idea that "trans activists" are making novel demands is ludicrous.

Today I learned that stalking a 17 year old girl, writing up a 400 page 'dossier' about her, falsely reporting her to the police and smashing her phone does not constitute 'harassment'.

One wonders what *would*.

Everytime a trans girl plays sports along her cis girl mates they go like: "Gigantic, huge manly man crashing through little, daint, girly-babies", even when she's about the same size as them. But when a 6.4, heavy-set adult man attacks a noticeably smaller teen, she suddenly is just an 'activist'…

Mainstream publications in the UK used to use trans people’s pronouns in reporting. Then they stopped using pronouns for trans criminals. Then they started referring to trans criminals by their biological sex. Now they seem to have stopped using pronouns for all trans people.
the refusal to use any pronouns for the woman involved here is so bizarre

Lots of weird headlines for a story in which Graham Linehan *is* guilty of a crime.

Go and look at Graham Linehans social media and tell me he hasn't spent years doing little other than harassing and targeting trans people.

If she’d ended up, say, detransitioning they absolutely would have referred to her as a vulnerable child. You wouldn’t be allowed to forget how young she is.
the bbc coining the phrase "teenage trans woman" in their coverage of the linehan case is driving me insane. it's so subtly revealing
