I can’t make it, sadly – I’m hoping it’ll turn up on YouTube later – but if you’re in Mayfair this evening, looks like Dr Williams is set to deliver another banger: www.grosvenorchapel.org.uk/the-liddon-h...

Reminds me of the point made by Kat Blaque in a recent video about what she finds most depressing about AI art: that, for so many people, AI art seems to be *enough*; they don't seem to be bothered by the lack of human connection that is, for her, the essence of enjoying art
Pope Leo XIV told students not to use artificial intelligence for homework, saying that AI ‘won’t stand in authentic wonder before the beauty of God’s creation.’

I'm in an email thread with two other companies who evidently have email systems that are in some way incompatible with each other, because threading is broken and every subject header starts with "RE: Re: Re: RE: RE: RE:" or similar

Reading about the early Quaker, Humphrey Smith, who died in 1663 while imprisoned for his beliefs, and getting very neurodivergent vibes from this description of his childhood: studious, thoughtful, a loner, emotionally sensitive, bewildering his parents. From Zealous by Erica Canela, p.125

I wish someone would investigate the bizarre way testing for prostate cancer has become such a dominant topic in the media?

It’s a grim condition but currently universal testing would lead to MORE deaths due to false positives.

We know this which is why work is underway to reduce them.

It's a standard that has been adopted by large sections of the press as more and more derogatory language is used on a regular basis.

Even those who 'play nice' tend to just not use any pronouns at all for trans people.
Truly grotesque that the BBC chose to describe the *victim* of Graham Linehan's *crime* for which he was *convicted* in these terms. I can only conclude that this is now standard BBC editorial practice for referring to trans people, regardless of context. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I have complained as well. Perhaps others might wish to complain as well, fwiw?
I strongly suspect I'm pissing in the wind, but here's my complaint to BBC News about their use of this language to describe a *teenage victim of crime*. I even said I want a response, like someone who is *determined* to suffer.

In the span of a hour, they stealth edited the article from trans woman to "biological male who identifies as a woman." The BBC isn't fit for purpose.
It looks like that BBC page has been updated in the last few minutes, so that's no longer the last sentence. I think part of it has been moved to this paragraph in the middle of the article, and the age is no longer mentioned:

I know it's beyond "old hat" by now to recall the days when Barack Obama wearing a tan suit was treated by conservatives as the Death of All That is Decent and Presidential, but it's staggering how far the moral collapse of the Right has gone
I don't know why the "Piggy" thing is bothering me so much. It's one more unforgivable thing in a list of 20,000 unforgivable things, but I've been mad about it for like 12 straight hours.

Depressing that the Orthodox Church – a church with a rich, beautiful and complex tradition – is seeing high levels of conversions from people, especially men, who mainly value it as a bastion of masculinity, queerphobia, misogyny and even antisemitism: www.nytimes.com/2025/11/19/u...

Found myself reading, yet again, this incredible passage from towards the end of Omar El Akkad's "One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This" – a book every bit as good as its title – and realising what it reminds me of: Ecclesiastes 12. www.biblegateway.com/passage/?sea...
