This almost certainly explains why journalists and politicians have remained on Elon's Porno Website. They're not especially interested in talking to the country. They're more interested in talking to their mates.

For every minute Britons spend on Twitter, they spend:

35 minutes on YouTube
35 minutes on Facebook/Messenger
11 minutes on Instagram
7 minutes on TikTok
5 minutes on Snapchat.

If the UK government wants to scale down on Twitter than it's really not a problem for directly reaching people.

The people who do these briefings for ministers' oral parliamentary questions are often overworked and under-resourced junior civil servants, but it's hard to see how they could have got this is so obviously wrong.

And then that it went through the clearance process and still wasn't picked up!
If there is an argument then this is the argument. But lol I can’t find where this obviously false stat is coming from. And if the government does believe more than half the families in the UK are using it as their primary news source then woah maybe time to up the scrutiny of it!

A fascinating thread which should lead to serious questions being asked as to whether the government has deliberately misled Parliament.
More from @markpackuk.bsky.social on his question about the government use of X: government will carry on prioritising X for government comms, despite the evidence about X's promotion + protection of unlawful activity. It no longer pays to advertise there

It’s important to be at the Nazi Nonce club to provide a counter-narrative to all the nazis and nonces.
Cabinet Office Minister Baroness Anderson tells the Lords the Government will keep on using X.

"I still believe that X is an appropriate platform to use because I believe in freedom of speech..."

"It is incredibly important that there is a counter narrative on those platforms," she says.

This is an important point. Employers have a duty of care here and I hope PCS step up.
@jamesrball.com I think there's an extra perspective that has not been considered enough.

I don't see how a government department (or any employer) can require their social media teams to use a platform which will expose them to such distressing images and the legal consequences of accessing them.

She's called Sir Michael Atherton.

Honestly.

'Michael' or 'Athers' for short. And the title is so there's no confusion with the ex-cricketer turned journalist of the same name.
