It is indicative of how little cis people understand trans lives that a woman who is announcing the organization's intent to deny trans women full and equal participation thinks this is a heartwarming story and not an indictment on her eternal soul.
This part is *infuriating*. This cis woman heard an 80 year old trans woman say, 'This is the only place I've been respected as a woman IN MY LIFE.'
And did not immediately think, 'I will fight every inch like a dying badger to keep her in my organization.'

It's totally devasting that billionaires and political parties have pushed orgs into such a position. Excluding and dehumanising trans people is a political choice they made. One day they will look back at this period in time and try to pretend they weren't culpable because they wrote a wee post.

They're a private organisation who can decide exactly who their members are and aren't. The SC only affects provisions of the Equality Act, none of which apply to this.

I keep thinking about the GirlGuiding mess, and thinking about way way back when I went to Brownies. My branch had girls who were in each other's classes, were pals, that was part of the attraction. Imagine being 8 and being told your pal can't join you, and you may not even have known she's trans.
