For this thanksgiving, I’m thankful I’ve never voted for the Democratic Party of the United States.

This house tax pretending is making me more insane than usual because as a renter I’ve had to move every 1-3 years just as standard because rents always rise. And no one cares. House owners get a tiny fraction of that precarity and suddenly it’s the worst thing that’s ever happened

Felt like this when mortgage payments went up a few years ago - yes, it's horrible to now be paying an extra £200 a month, but that's been happening to renters year on year and there were no sadface articles on that, just "market forces" and "nobody has a right to live in a city"

Why do people do this!? It happened the other day, someone was trying to suggest that in London £1.5million is just a small average home and NO IT FUCKING ISN'T. London is incredibly expensive and most people are priced out already, you don't need to invent shit.

People with £2million flats can afford to pay the tax.
I do have a little bit of sympathy for people in the London market who are impacted by this. Yes these people are lucky as they have a valuable asset but property prices have increased massively in London in the last few decades. A flat can cost £2m in some areas.

People with £2million houses are very, very rich. Thank you very much.
Or, why not tax the very, very rich? The billionaires?

Never has someone told on himself more brutally, and repeatedly, as glinner.

Like, mate, it’s ok to fancy trans women, you don’t have to get all weird about it and try to remove their basic human rights cause you saw a hottie.
Rape is when a trans women says "yes, you can kiss me".

Look it’s never nice to find yourself in a position of having to move when you don’t want to but given that due to the volatility of the London housing market I have had to move FIVE TIMES since 2020 I’m struggling to feel very sympathetic towards people whose ’problem’ is a paid off 2mil property.

You could’ve posted this, verbatim, every week for the last, what, 10 years? and people would’ve assumed it was about a different journalist/scandal.
this was bad before, but these are the most troubling and serious allegations you can make about a journalist. if they’re true, i genuinely can’t think of a worse scandal in the history of political journalism. devastating to our industry, to public trust as a whole, and to everyone in its orbit

“What about this poor old woman who is blind, deaf, in a wheelchair and survives on £30 a week, but lives in a £15 million manor she doesn’t want to sell because it was left to her by her late husband, who died while saving a group of orphans from being sold into slavery? What about HER, Rachel??”

“She’s just a poor owld gorl, a single mam she is, living alone in her 2 million pound house with no mortgage poor lass, bless”

I pay almost £14,000 a year in rent, if I can find that they can find the money to pay their taxes.
Mumsnet is already on the case.

Just for fun, let’s do some maths here…

Not going to call it a protracted propaganda campaign against London but it’s wild how quickly and easily people fall back on “yeah everyone’s house in London is worth £2million that’s just how houses are there! They’re all rich!”
This isn’t even a “London House Prices” thing, since the average house price here is about £500k
November 27, 2025 at 7:47 AM
Fuck you and pay your taxes

Someone just checked in with a dog named Luna. I hope the vet specifies the species when they call her name.

Luna has a dogs name, how did I not foresee see this coming
November 26, 2025 at 4:55 PM
Ok, am I the weird one here:

When you’re in a vets waiting room, and there’s clearly two separate seating/waiting areas. Surely it’s obvious that one of them is for cats and the other for dogs? Right? So why is it people with dogs believe that they have free roam of the entire waiting room?

The Labour Party (and the weird collection of grubs and slime moulds that support them) are genuinely impressive with how quickly they’re changing my mind from “I’ll vote for someone other than Labour in the next election” to “I’ll actively vote against Labour in the next election”.
November 26, 2025 at 1:22 PM
His radical approach of taxing more those with the most money? No, it’s much better to stick with the tried and true method of turning the screws tighter on those with the least.
Labour love this hypnotherapist line because they get to do antisemitic dogwhistles but get bailed out by the press each time. Like they did here.
