Abolish ICE.

There’s no reforming it.

There’s no compromise.

There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.

A job that I hoped would never exist.
In response to the increasing threat posed by ICE Nazis, Mexican restaurants in Minneapolis are now employing a door person to ensure the safety of their employees and customers while maintaining their operations. (2/2/26)

Predicting that this week we’ll hear more conciliatory words from the Administration regarding Minnesota (since they’re starting to realize that ICE has become politically toxic) but everyone outside of Minnesota needs to know that nothing on the ground has changed.

Today at school dismissal, I followed a suspicious pickup around for a bit, keeping an eye on them, trying to figure out if they were ICE. Then I realized they were keeping an eye on me also. Then I realized they were, in fact, other parents. Life in Minnesota, January 2026.

For the people insisting that there will be consequences for this, if wealthy white men actually faced consequences the slave owners would have been guillotined. Instead many of them were paid for “loss of property”.

I’ll probably get yelled at for this again but if the US government had not fucked up the reconstruction so badly by betraying Black people after they freed themselves and refusing to guillotine the people who enslaved them, the US would be a place where consequences existed for wealthy white guys.

ICE wants to detain anyone with a whistle.

The whistles are a non violent way to protect vulnerable members of the community.

You know who else carries whistles? Children. Victims of assault. Women trying to avoid being raped.

But sure. Let’s go after whistles.

God bless the Judge Bierys of the world

Also applicable:
"He has told you, O mortal, what is good,
and what does the LORD require of you
but to do justice and to love kindness
and to walk humbly with your God?"
(Micah 6:8)

h/t @jackjenkins.me
Judge Biery signed the order with a photo of Liam and two bible verses: The first is "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The second is simply "Jesus wept."

Astonishing thing for a judge to do.

Decentralized hyperlocal organizing also means multiple kinds of actions in multiple places at the same time which is a critical feature of resistance on this terrain.

You can’t kill or arrest everyone.

They’re taking kids from Minnesota and sending them to detention camps. They’re shooting American citizens in the street and locking investigators out of the crime scenes. The world is watching what happens next.

It’s so hard to describe what this is like to people who aren’t here. The ICE/BCP occupation seeps into everything. It’s not just the horror of the big stuff. It’s the little stuff, too: helicopters all night, vigilance during every trip out of the house, guilt at having any downtime at all.
I've personally had barely any ICE encounters. I've done patrolling when I can. And my body is just yelling at me that it's wrecked.

Even doing a little bit is fucking taxing. Everyone doing more is a superhero, and I don't think folks who haven't been involved in an occupation understand the toll.

I don't like to talk about stories before they are fully reported, but I am writing on ICE in a Minnesota town that isn't Minneapolis. However bad you think it is, it is worse. It is a campaign of pure terror whose only strategic goal is more terror. There is no strategy other than to break people.

Reminder that this is an absolutely urgent need in the Minneapolis area and rent is due TOMORROW. Families in hiding aren’t working and can’t pay rent.

Ashley Fairbanks is a locally trusted person and this fundraiser is real.
if you feel like passing around a link today and helping fundraise for rent that will actually get paid today (and in the next few days for families who have a grace period) you can send here.

we will be going hard all day. i won’t be posting about it because I don’t want to flood your feeds.
