I wrote my upcoming verse novel Hekate inspired by ancient Greek poet and playwright Euripides’ structure. I loved writing this book and was bereft when I finished it. It’s one of those stories that lingers - an intimating goddess of necromancy telling us her origins.
Pantone picking the wrong colour of the year and being rejected by everyone and their mothers is the real recession indicator.

My entire wardrobe has become Hekate core and I’m not minding it.

This is exactly how I'm feeling right now. And this poem from @nikitagill.bsky.social captures it so perfectly.
A soft, small, hopeful thing.

I thought we all collectively agreed that the British public is never allowed to make any cultural decision ever again after Brexit.

No longer know how to explain to my mother that the only reason I’m still here is because I tricked myself into continuing to be here. And I still do in really bad times.

Turning antisemitism into a weird game like this doesn’t seem like the best way to protect Jewish people. Also, can I just say, the non-stop harassment of Ms. Rachel in particular for just saying “please stop killing Palestinian children and their families” is bone chilling.

Person in audience: how do we get people to respect nature.

Me: we genetically modify trees to start eating the people who don’t.

If you think more liberation movements are built on “what have we got to lose” and not hope for a better future, you’re already lost. My family survived two genocides. They didn’t survive because they were doomers. They survived on hope.

This whole thread, with a loud amen from me.
Since people find being hopeful and optimistic so cringe these days, let me remind you once again that there isn’t a single liberation movement in the world that wasn’t built on hope and optimism.

You know, Jane Austen clearly found most people really annoying, which is why her books all ended with her annoyedly telling us “look some of these people got married, some died, some were miserable, some were happy, but most importantly THE END.”

For a long time, I thought Thanksgiving was a holiday where people invited turkeys dressed as pilgrims to eat at their table with them, and till date I have no clue why I thought this.

“Be realistic.”

I refuse to live in your limited notion of what kind of hope, justice and love is possible in this world. There is a key to let us all out of this cage but it cannot be found until we all agree it exists.

Me about to piss off a bunch of capitalists: If Bezos doesn’t want to pay his fair share in corporate taxes, I don’t see why we shouldn’t nationalise Amazon and make it a subsidiary of the post office.

Well here’s a thing I never thought I would say: listen to the Pope, he’s talking sense.
Pope Leo XIV told students not to use artificial intelligence for homework, saying that AI ‘won’t stand in authentic wonder before the beauty of God’s creation.’

Told my fiancé this is one of my policies if I ever run for high office. He told me he would vote for me 💜🥹

That’s true love, that is.
Me about to piss off the capitalists even more: I actually think investing money in genAI and all its data centres should be banned until it proves it does not harm the environment (spoiler, it will not) and also proves it is actually useful (spoiler, it is not).
