They really are! I am already overprotective of everyone I love. The idea of someone harassing my partner/child because of my public profile makes me utterly furious.

I chose to be public due to my work. He did not. I’m not embarrassed of him in the least, in fact, I am pretty goofily in love with him even a decade on. But people are FUCKING WIERD, and I really don’t want him to face the brunt of that. If we ever have a kid, no one would see my child either.

Like I cannot even begin to explain how awful it was - he barely even uses social media. Both men and women he didn’t know filled up his DMs and comments with VERY personal comments. We made the decision as a couple to create a firm boundary there and I would not tag him or show him on my feed.

Using other minorities to defend your misogyny and transphobia doesn’t make you look good either. I strongly encourage you to unfollow me. And for the record, I am a brown queer woman.

Hard to imagine a dumber and more sexist impulse than to deny the existence of the patriarchy.

It’s amazing how they don’t see that the only women leaders who manage to “succeed” under a rigid patriarchal system are women who uphold white supremacy and the cis het patriarchal structure. Then they use those women as a defence against women leading as a whole.

Reading the discourse around SNAP benefits and then watching the Trump administration trying to block millions of Americans from accessing SNAP benefits so they can eat has just reminded me of how cruel the world is to those who are the poorest amongst us.

The rich have ensured that the discourse around poverty is that it is a personal failing, not a policy choice. And largely people with means have bought this propaganda. It means that those who are most vulnerable like the unhoused are essentially abandoned.
