This song came on in Harris Teeter the other day. I believe I'm entitled to compensation.
I put it to you that Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” is not merely the worst Christmas song but is also in fact the worst song in the history of recorded sound.

UPDATE: He continues to sit and stare at a spot. The tip of his tail just moved and he slapped the everlovin' shit out of it. So I'm thinking Option #2.
Apparently, the QOTD is: Did a bug fly into the apartment or has Charlie lost his mind?

Can I let you in on a little secret?

Billionaire philanthropy isn’t charity.

It’s PR to distract you from low wages, labor exploitation, and a tax system that’s rigged for the rich.

It's happening FOR me, not TO me... --my Mercury Retrograde Mantra Schwoo, y'all. Hope you came through the retrograde reasonably unscathed! Usually, I embrace Mercury Retrograde1 because it's a good reminder to pause, to respond rather than react, so I didn't come into this one with any sense of dread. Mercury. Don't. Care. The first clue I had that this was going to be a bumpy ride was right about the time it went retrograde.

With so many nonprofits making a year-end push for donations, it helps to do some research before deciding where to give.

@propublica.org's Nonprofit Explorer tool has details on millions of orgs (including ProPublica) with helpful info like executive compensation, revenue, and expenses.

Disappointed to see this. 160 union workers are fighting for a fair contract at Individualized Shirts, a US factory that makes high-end men's button-ups. The managers there have rejected the union's request for fair wages and health insurance. The union is asking for support 🧵

Let me get this straight: we trained this guy to be an elite killer, abandoned his country to the Taliban, isolated him, arbitrarily banned him from working and so left his family unsupported.

I don’t know if there’s any more efficient way of producing a mental health crisis outside of torture.

Hands-down, one of the best albums ever recorded. Not a single skip.

(And will now be listening to it on my lunchtime walk around the pond.)
Sounds about right.
On this day 40 years ago, Fables of the Reconstruction was voted Album of the Year at the College Media Journal Awards in New York City. @millsish.bsky.social thanked college radio and the alternative scene, "without which most of the great rock'n'roll of today would never be heard by mortal ears."

No follow up questions!
this is at least the second time he’s claimed he doesn’t know anything about a pardon he has ostensibly signed, and i feel like that’s two times too many without a follow up question from the press corpse
talking to reporters last night, Trump claimed of Hegseth's double tap strike that "I don't know anything about it," then moments later claimed "I don't who you're talking about" when asked his plan to pardon the former Honduran president

Who is making these decisions? Who is acting as commander in chief? Who is deciding which drug lords to pardon?

and if you can’t run on that then for fuck’s sake get out of the way and let someone run who can
The president is a political cartoon of corruption come to life, a gaudy grifter who is selling off pardons and lining his pockets, building a golden ballroom and protecting his fellow sex predator elites, all the while regular Americans are suffering and struggling to make ends meet.

Run on *that*

The DC shooting story is really getting to me because we literally trained this man as a child soldier for a death squad in a forever war and Stephen Miller et al want to blame it on other cultures? It's our culture, American culture, that killed that woman.

One of the most eye-opening courses I ever took in undergrad was a seminar on American immigration history & We read a number of very clarifying books. At least two students were immigrants who were forced to go back to school despite having foreign MDs bc the US wouldn’t take their credentials.
Trump and Miller want to turn the clock back to the era of American immigration politics I think few of us were taught honestly about in American public education, outside reading The Great Gatsby

National parks have SO MANY people from other countries (since they get real vacations!)

And they spend a lot of money on hotels, food, souvenirs, etc.

This is unbelievably dumb, it will destroy entire tourist towns
