hey it turns out that growing up one of the reasons your parents were in bad moods was that they opened up the newspaper that morning and learned that another one of the people they had unwittingly included in their personal cosmology winked out

This is the exact argument people sometimes make trying to explain the "Seattle Freeze," wherein supposedly we don't welcome newcomers and it's hard to make friends here. Apparently Scandinavians contain multitudes.

I am introducing the Cut It Out And This Time I Really Mean It bill. It provides an additional $57 billion to the murder goons but they will agree to wear business casual Monday through Thursday and if they do any murders they have to put a dollar in this jar.

DHS is a disastrous kludgy mess created in the panicked aftermath of 9/11 and it has not for a minute of its existence made “the homeland” more secure

it should absolutely be dismantled
Amid growing calls for the abolition of ICE, Rep. Delia Ramirez is calling for the entire DHS to be dismantled. Highlighting how much experience the officers who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti had, Ramirez said, “DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity.”
House Democrat Says Abolishing ICE Isn’t Enough — DHS Must Go, Too
“The problem isn’t ‘training.’ DHS was built to violate our rights,” said Rep. Delia C. Ramirez.

A lot of Dems are going to take Bovino and Noem being fired as the finish line, and it's very important to make it clear to them that it is a starting line

Hey, this Bovino thing is a pathetic attempt to make all these horrors the fault of one guy, and it would be a serious, serious crisis if people fell for it. ICE needs to be abolished, bc this - terror, murder - are what it exists for. Nothing else. This is just an attempt to mollify us. Stay angry

Obviously I knew public schools were completely underfunded, but you still want to imagine that your tax dollars are out there doing good stuff for you. But no, we can't afford luxuries like "snacks" and "books" and "teacher salaries" when our poor cops are driving around tankless

That last part! These idiot guys out there posting THIS IS ORGANIZED well yes, Dylan, it’s organized in the same way your mom made sure you wore pajamas on pajama day and had regular ortho appointments that didn’t conflict with your football practice and field trips
part of this is like, conservatives projecting; part of this is conservatives unable to imagine politics without money; and part of this is dudes who are so out of touch with feminized labor that they think children's birthday parties exist as a spontaneous act of parthogenesis
I mostly just stay off Twitter altogether but after double checking that the Walter Hudson post was still up I ran across this and just had to share so the Romancelandians who bought hand warmers could hear about the PROFESSIONAL GRADE LOGISTICS.

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!
