Marshall: Does it feel like a dark age to you?
Robbins: It’s starting to feel that way more and more, but my porchlight is burning night and day.

The real issue isn’t immigration, it’s the feedback loop: platforms amplify anxiety → voters feel it → politicians chase it → hollow policy follows. Until we break that cycle, we won’t get functional decisions or functional democracy.

This is an inauguration I could get behind.
actually if you read the constitution every incoming president has to blow at least one other former president to transfer the office

American Catholic bishops might be brain-poisoned reactionaries but they do take the Sacraments seriously and reportedly priests were being turned away from Portland and Broadview
It’s honestly incredible that Pope Leo told the Bishops to say something about the ICE raids and they… listened to him and did what he told them lol.

They did not treat Francis with the same level of respect

I know this is simplistic, but, honestly, why not just ignore the New York Times? How many shitty meals do you have to stomach before you stop going to that horrible restaurant?

Please read this lovely tale:
Thinking a lot about the role of human creation in our current post truth, 'Pseudocene' epoch, and I remembered one of my favorite legends, the Russian legend of the firebird, quoted here from the preface to Suzanne Maisie's seminal work on early, pre-USSR Russian history, 'Land of the Firebird':

Reminder: They hate Bill Clinton for one reason: He created an economy that helped everyone. But it helped create a demographic that scared conservatives to death: Financially independent childless women. Don’t nothing scare a man more than the thought that a woman don’t need his ass.

Sometimes a creature is carried far outside its normal range; these are called "vagrants" or "accidentals" and while it's exciting to spot one, being stranded far from its natural diet usually leads to a tragic end.

It's tough to understand how we got stuck in this cycle where every time a Democratic president does as much as they can with the trifecta they come into office with, the electorate breaks it up in the midterms, then elects a GOP president with a trifecta who dismantles their accomplishments.

RE starbucks picket line--the relevant detail is "picket line, do not cross." Pass that along. Proclaiming that you are in no danger of doing so because you are too aesthetically pure to let Starbucks coffee pass your lips is...unhelpful and does not give the impression you perhaps imagine it does.

Exactly. I knew Trump was a Russian puppet and I knew he was a pedophile but I didn’t know his pedophile supplier also offered to be his go between with the Russians.
like the surprising thing here is that 'russiagate' and 'the epstein files' are literally the same thing, not that the former was true lol.

this applies to several republican representatives right now and i think it would be very good practice to observe it.
the correct way to handle truly odious defections from an enemy is just to refrain from spitting on them. you don't have to make friends with them and you absolutely shouldn't trust them. just refrain from spitting on them when they are attacking your enemies
