The children appreciated adults listening to them and offering feedback. I got this cute drawing in thanks.

Found the Rhode Island 1975 State Rail
Plan

… “the utilization of efficient passenger modes of travel has become increasingly important. To meet this need the state has proposed a new commuter rail system on the east and west shores of Narragansett Bay, interfacing in the Providence CBD.”

Liz, I was happy to have you as my senator. I voted for you in 2020.

You’re blowing it now.
.@PabloReports: Would you vote for any funding increases for ICE?

Warren: Not without more restrictions. This is an agency that is out of control. If we don’t get some restrictions in place, they’re going to put more American citizens at risk.

Feels weird to be doing something as frivolous as a Girl Scout Cookie side by side with the way the country is going, but we tried both bakeries’ “exploremores” and unanimously preferred the abc version. Rocky road ice cream inspired cookies with flavors of chocolate, marshmallow and almond crème

A day in the life of Daria: unplanned, ships passing in the night with my state Senator, sharing a brief catch-up on transit funding activism.

Nothing ominous about gray planes with just an American flag on the tail, making repeated low passes on the approach to the local airport, right?

Imagine having to write even a single article using words having none of the letters N-Z
"Letters for the printing press had not been delivered in their entirety until the previous day. The first half of the alphabet, from A to M, had arrived the previous week, but the first issue nearly had to go to press without the second half of the alphabet." www.northcentralpa.com/business/cli...

The post I quoted is sadly deleted but I’m at the RISD Museum today for the closing of the Lizzy Collins “Motherlode” exhibit and I’m looking at “Homecoming” and see this amazing piece. Who did it? Ian, of course!

Talking with Marie about what we remember about the OG American library classification system. For me, it was how much content I cared about was buried below 917.48. For her, it was how 001.63 was “adopted” for the materials she cared about.

We both got to college and were saved by LC call numbers

When NIMBYs say that California is full and their cities can’t accommodate more housing, they are saying that queer people trying to get out of red states are on their own.
New research confirms what many of us see: there's a large internal migration of LGBTQ people in the US, especially trans people, to friendlier states & cities.
Since 11/2024, 9% of all trans people have moved to another state, 43% have considered moving.

Los Angeles, CA -

Bit of a false alarm; crowd isn’t marching yet though they are assembled in the street currently. Making speeches still.

Some Saturday afternoon zen: coney Brook, at Tillinghast Pond Management Area in West Greenwich RI. This is below the outflow for an old dam. Very satisfying

Wilbury Theatre (local to Providence) has pay what you can ticketing and we kick in some to help make sure that can keep happening (grew up poor, did not have much culture, want to help make sure that does not happen to others) but seeing something like this happen citywide, even elsewhere, is great
“When I speak about making our city more affordable, my vision is not limited to the homes that we live in or the child care that we’re making universal — it’s also a vision where we make it possible for working people to afford lives of joy, of art, of rest, of expression.”

Got cookies from both bakeries shipped from trans girl scouts in New England and the tracking numbers both show they're originating at the same town in New Jersey. 🤔

This is Mendon Road in Cumberland RI. There are worse life choices you can make than biking here, but there are many better ones.

One better one would be using the nearby Blackstone Canal path, but Rhode Island hates people not in cars, so, it’s covered in ice.

Having my brain make up a song in a dream whose refrain was “save your life, don’t worry ‘bout nothin’” and then waking up to the country and world we live in is truly cruel.

Once in the Rhode Island State House and once again later in Providence Place Mall today I addressed a pair of people as yinz while offering directions and I could see in their eyes the moment they processed what I had said.

The state library is the hottest place in Providence.

Well, probably not but it’s very warm and the fact that I was dressed to bicycle on a 40ish° day isn’t helping!
