Thank you Berkeley for electing me to the Rent Stabilization Board and passing BB, the Tenant Protection & Right to Organize Act! Dominique & Xavier from the Right to Housing Slate were also elected.

@averyarbaugh.bsky.social- thank you for your work on our campaigns- we'll get you in next time! ❤️
I'd imagine Big Oakland would be exciting, with people moving in from all over the world.

Long before more Congress seats mattered, more power on regional water, park, & transit boards - which currently skew suburban - would make a big difference. Would Piedmont still be a suburban donut hole? 😂
I want Oakland to become a city that can comfortably house 3 million people so we can make it more affordable, increase tax revenue, increase transit use, and very importantly to have more Congress members

AC Transit is adding trips to relieve overcrowding on some lines starting Feb 1st. Reflecting new trends in ridership, many of these lines serve colleges and schools. Also notable is more service to Alameda - perhaps related to the new housing that's being built. 🚌

This is unacceptable. We’re demanding immediate answers from xAI on their plan to stop the creation & spread of this content.

They are not even trying to hide blatant racial profiling anymore.

This is an armed, masked militia traveling in unmarked vehicles operated by our federal government with clear intent to perform racial and ethnic cleansing on our friends and neighbors.
"“They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood.” Lugert-Thom responded, “I don’t know anything about that” & she said they then asked, “Well, what about the Asian families?”"

"“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what I was asked to do.”"
A St. Paul resident says federal officers knocked on her door and asked her to identify Hmong and Asian households in her North End neighborhood last week.

Berkeley has several thousand residents with limited English skills, many of who are also new to the city.

The Rent Board is working on increasing our language services. Some improvements have already taken place this year, more are on the way.
At last week's Berkeley Rent Board outreach committee, we discussed how to increase the translation of forms and info, and better promote available interpretation services for tenants and landlords seeking help from the Rent Board.

Details later this month at the next committee meeting.

Go Bears! Cal remains popular for Californians, students from the rest of the country, & international students, with the number of new students in all 3 categories up this year.🐻 www.berkeleyside.org/2026/01/08/u...

Housing has been the main limit for Cal, as more housing is built more can attend.
Defying a nationwide trend, UC Berkeley enrolled more new international students this year
The university also welcomed more California residents, enrolling its largest-ever student body.
