I agree with this broadly, and more specifically, you do not *ever* have to hand it to a professional white supremacist like Hanania. A Nazi who is just smart enough to see that his fellow travelers are dangerously stupid fuckups is still a Nazi, and should be treated as such.
Nuanced take: I think it's really important to give *normal citizens* who supported Trump and off-ramp and *professional writers, pundits and politicians* who supported Trump should have to wear it like a scarlet letter for the rest of their lives

Once again: we have many precedents for elderly WWII-era Nazis caught in the US after killing hundreds/thousands of people. All were treated infinitely better by US officials than this, again despite the knowledge that they had committed a genocide. They were just WHITE.

I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.
