When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

Yesterday’s walk: Been a busy fall so this was my first Very Long Walk in almost two months. Across 90 to Bellevue, down the Eastrail to Renton. Out of practice so it was a challenging and uncomfortable walk but I feel good today. 59,040 steps, 28.9 miles.

Even without the surveillance, a smart ring is a bad idea. I was interested in getting one for sleep tracking until I read about what happens if the battery expands. It gets tighter and tighter on your finger and you can’t cut the ring off because it will literally explode.

So Olivia Nuzzi is clearly a piece of shit who can never work in journalism again after this.

And, also, Ryan Lizza is clearly a piece of shit who should never work in journalism again after this either.

We're all agree on that, right?

Olivia Nuzzi seeing Clare Malone as a professional rival makes exactly as much sense as me seeing LeBron James as a professional rival.

Brilliant and incandescently angry fact checks. Listen to this first if you expect to get into political or economic discussions this weekend.
This is a great episode—it’s about how to argue economic issues with conservative family members at Thanksgiving. (Plus, a strong response to “what about trans athletes?” concern-trolling and a very important question about the Ghostbusters.)

You know what? People always had shit taste, most of ‘em; read bad books, loved bad music, ate bad food. Please stop moaning about The Decline of the Bloody West. Your grandma read garbage too. Read better books.

As someone who loves to cook for Thanksgiving but doesn’t like to bake, I needed to hear this today.
Soon it will be time to make pie crust. But I am going to say this as someone who has been making pie crust since I was 11 years old. If you do not have the gift or the desire to make pie crust, buy the pie crust. Seriously. Buy it. It will be okay.

Oh, wow. I hate literally everything about this.
I teased this last night in What I’m Hearing but now confirmed: Paramount WILL release Rush Hour 4 after prodding from Trump on behalf of Brett Ratner. Distribution deal. Producer Tarak Ben Ammar is lining up financing. Get ready for the dumbest possible state-controlled media.

Not to kink-shame, but please don’t felch your turkey.
Good morning. In the past 24 hours, more Americans have Googled “felching” than have searched for “turkey recipes”

As far as I know, this is the only movie scene to ever take place in Buxton, Maine, where I’m from. (It was actually filmed in Ohio, not Maine.)

So Bezos is in them too then?
The Washington Post editorial board decided the Epstein files have “no public interest” before even seeing them. That’s a stunning position for any newsroom to take. Praising Clay Higgins as the lone ‘no’ vote, too? No wonder no one trusts legacy media. Absolutely disgusting.

This is what I want to see all Democratic candidates for Congress doing next year: Raising awareness of important issues, doing good work in the community, and making spaces for people to come together. Our country can’t be fixed with desperate fundraising emails.

New: Reuters has tallied job losses, suspensions and investigations stemming from the reaction to Charlie Kirk's Sept. 10 assassination. Its findings: More than 600 Americans have been punished, and the figure is likely to be an under-count.

I generally think the nepo baby discourse is overblown. It makes sense that the child of an actor or musician would have an interest in and aptitude for the art that was always a part of their lives. But nepo baby pundits are all useless—they can only comment on the commentary. No original thoughts.
