imagine having to hear shit like "study confirms giving diabetic children insulin reduces their death rates by 100%" as if that hasn't been known for like a hunred years. that's what being trans is like

It’s hard to say what makes something spiritually a “Thanksgiving movie” but Hundreds of Beavers is definitely a Thanksgiving movie.

As someone who has historically written "silly women topics" like romance and erotica, I think it kinda sucks that a lot of people still insist that any serious discussion about these works and the broader cultures around them is automatically misogynyistic dismissal, not a good-faith interrogation

A lot of modern internet discourse feels like people grew up watching YouTubers who exaggerate everything for engagement and thought that was how you're supposed to behave

The only truly irreversible thing a trans child is likely to do is take their own life. "What if they do something irreversible?" actually means "theyre not allowed to make a decision!"

You cant undo or reverse any decision you make, you can simply change your mind later and handle the consequences

Attacking trans children is about attacking all children in the same way attacking trans autonomy is about attacking all bodily autonomy. Our actions are particularly powerful, autonomous and brave, and that means even well meaning ppl find us ideologically disturbing

That short stories exist in the cracks and interstices of the capitalist system is how you know they’re the superior form
Yeah, unfortunately. Outside the world of magazines, anthologies, and small presses sustained by obsessive volunteer labour, the capital-I industry rather does seem to find short stories an unwanted form electricliterature.com/i-love-short...
I Love Short Stories. Do I Have to Write a Novel? - Electric Literature
The publishing world’s insistence on the novel as default fails to imagine what a book can do

I mean I guess it’s sort of fun after a decade of people insisting everyone and everything even mildly critical of the democratic party is Russian, to find out instead that a ton of them seem to be Indian and Nigerian and not trying to destabilize America for Putin just make some money

the key feature of "bad photoshop" was not that it was "bad" but that you could see the hand of the person who made it. "bad photoshop" is a triumph of human will over technical stumbling blocks. it's why the shaggs are magical and AI Music Slop is forgotten before you can even finish listening

Trying to get anyone to read "Anathem" is Hell. I promise this book rocks. You'll love reading hundreds of pages of history of philosophy on a strange world where neoplatonism is a major religion. I sweat to god you're going to have fun with the made up words everywhere. Please believe me.

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

I've never had a trans woman tell me to get back in the kitchen, or make a "joke" about how women shouldn't be allowed to vote. I've never seen trans women outside the planned parenthood calling women murderers and whores. trans women have never dogged me out for incorrectly performing femininity
