One of my all-time favorite clips of Rob Reiner, from his Friars Club Roast in 2000, as he reads aloud Roger Ebert's infamous scathing review of his movie North. The man had an amazing sense of humor about himself. RIP.

Yes, this is what the actor in one of the most popular shows of all time, and director of some of the most popular movies of all time, will be most remembered for.

When I interviewed Spinal Tap and Marty DiBergi this summer, none of them broke character, for the whole hour. Except Rob Reiner, once, losing it when Michael McKean's David St Hubbins talked about minimalism. I didn't use this in the feature and hadn't published any audio, but this is joyful.

I genuinely affirmatively think that it is now a democratic imperative to spend as much time as you can offline. Read more offline. Socialise more offline. Discuss media you consume with other people offline. Out there is a real world full of people looking for real human connection - seize it
Reading a bunch of books this year has really solidified for me how awful the internet is in comparison nowadays. Obviously in terms of general hostility but more generally in terms of lack of depth, insight, reading comprehension, base of knowledge, etc

What's life going to be like with all the good people gone and all the awful ones here forever?
Let's celebrate the achievements of Rob Reiner, a talent who made audiences laugh and cry.
You could any of a dozen+ Reiner films, I've gone for The Princess Bride. 5/5

He still leads the polls but Orbán has vast resources — plus Trump and Putin's backing. 4 months to go until the election.

Astonishing bravery. Incredible.
Incredible footage out of Australia, confirmed by NEWS AU, of a brave bystander neutralizing one of the terrorists in the Bondi Beach attack which took place during a Hanukkah gathering.

Australian authorities say multiple people have been killed.

At least two suspects are in custody.

Reports of a mass shooting at Bondi Beach, Sidney, at or near a Hanukkah event which was taking place on the beach. I have seen videos of two men in black shooting down to the beach, but I'm not sure if those are the assailants or LEO. Reports of many casualties.

@thecontinent.org on the killing of protesters in #Tanzania "There used to be a real brake on behaviour like this – leaders knew that certain lines, if crossed, would
trigger aid cuts or diplomatic isolation. Now, ..., that restraint has vanished. What we saw ... is ... the product of that vacuum."
