Christmas Wrapping, Last Christmas, Do They Know It's Christmas?, Merry Christmas Everyone, Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence - and Bros's impromptu cover of We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

Celebrate the 1980s at Christmas, and the 1980s at other times of the year, with my new book, #IntoTheGroove.

Going to be honest, I never perceived Whamageddon as a slight on the right hon. George Michael, just a bit of fun with regard to its ubiquity in shops during the festive season

My favourite thing about this is Jones Sr quoting Charlemagne, a quote Stoppard freely confessed he completely made up
RIP Tom Stoppard.

Hardly his most important work, but I remember having my mind blown by learning he had rewritten most of the dialogue on INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE, one of the funniest movies ever made

Perfect Tom Stoppard story from DTel obituary:

His response to a letter from Harold Pinter canvassing support for a proposal to have the Comedy Theatre in London rechristened the Pinter Theatre, “Have you thought, instead, of changing your name to Harold Comedy?”

Man who brags about the Pulitzer Prize he earned for his part in helping Snowden escape to Russia after Snowden stole US classified documents is having a sad because someone leaked Russian documents that are embarrassing to Trump officials - who he does not support.

It's such a bizarre framing. Labour MPs think taking 450k kids out of poverty is putting the country first! That's why they wanted it to happen! It's not because they personally benefit.
Headline on The World at One just now:

"Sir Keir Starmer has denied putting the Labour Party before the country by ending the two-child benefit cap".

Can we please go back to reporting the actual news, not someone's partisan take on it?

I'm reading a very good new book about John Candy. It includes a touching foreword from Dan Aykroyd, which is impossible to read without hearing his voice.

"When we first met, he was a Kleenex salesman with Kimberly-Clark, driving a company-owned brown four-door Pontiac sedan."

See what I mean?
