The man is 85, and he's finally retiring. In his honor, we must never forget to stay deee-menteeeeed. Thank you for everything you did, Doctor. You ensured comedy music reached the masses, and shaped the lives of so many nerdy kids. Well done. Well done, indeed.

Alex Jones is in Richard Linklater's "Waking Life," one of the best films of the 2000s. He is depicted as a dream-figure (the entire film is set in a dream) who wails conspiracies from a car loudspeaker (something Jones did IRL). That was the only time Jones was entertaining.

Incredible interview with Tim Curry, with great stuff about his development of the Dr. Frank N. Furter performance, his father's early death, his explosively bipolar mother, and surviving a stroke. I wish nothing but the best for this amazing man.

I love him so much (same problem on mobile)

Good interview with Tim Curry but annoying format where you have to pause and read a couple of pull-quotes every so often before you can move on. (On desktop anyway.)

The best year for music is whatever year you turned 16. For me, it was 1994.

The brilliant @williambibbiani.bsky.social pointed this out to me:
The world of "Star Trek" holds up diplomacy as one of its cardinal skills, but professional diplomats are always depicted as demanding and pewy, and escorting diplomats is said to be the least desirable job on a starship.

If there's a Middle-Earth, are there Middle other planets? Could Middle-Earth be invaded by aliens from Middle-Mars?

Today would have been the 115th birthday of the great Robert McKimson who is probably my favorite of the Looney Tunes geniuses, and that is certainly saying something. Flanked here by two of his creations, who are also two of my favorite LT characters. Cheers and appreciation, Mr. M.

For my piece today at @zeteo.com i wanted to truly underscore how punishingly stupid american fascism is now. Like, my original proposed headline for this was:

Our Democracy Is Imperiled Because One Old Man Won’t Stop ‘Yelling’ At His TV. zeteo.com/p/trump-addi...
Trump’s Addiction to Watching Fox Is Killing American Democracy
Our country is falling apart because one old man, Trump advisers and former administration officials say, won’t stop ‘yelling’ at his TV.

It’s endlessly depressing watching all these tech oligarchs try and convince themselves they’re geniuses instead of people who just happened to benefit from capitalism requiring their products and then the entire political and banking system gassing them up with with free money and tireless support.

if we'd treated their obvious baldfaced lies and deflections more like this over the past eight years maybe we wouldn't be in this situation

shocking how easy it is when you actually see it done

STEPHANOPOULOS: I didn't insinuate anything. I asked you whether Tom Homan accepted $50k as was heard on an audio tape recorded by the FBI in September 2024. You did not answer the question. Thank you for your time.

VANCE: No, George, I sai--

STEPHANOPOULOS: We'll be right back
