In general I support Mamdani but I don't think he's credible as an arts advocate because as far as I know he hasn't lifted a finger on behalf of making RUSH HOUR 4 happen.
New York City helped my mother become the artist she is today. The next generation deserves a City Hall that lifts up tomorrow's artists as well.

Hey! My book is now on sale everywhere (you’ll probably have better luck getting it online than from bookstores, alas), but come buy a signed copy at one of the following events! Thread:

People will die, and are currently dying, because RFK was granted one of the most powerful megaphones in the country. Two people who could have thrown barriers in front of his climb decided not to; there's a sex scandal here but it is not the biggest scandal.

Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

A catholic education without emotional and physical scars is a new experience for me, but I like what this catholic educator is saying.

I blame you for not recognizing a joke.

And New York, New York. That's what I call a short, eclectic, interesting filmography.
can you believe the guy who wrote that also wrote the insane belushi biopic WIRED?

Now, because of Trump, there's going to be a Rush Hour 4. Thanks, Susan Sarandon.

I watched again not too long ago, still found it enjoyable. It is what it always was: a fun weird-ass movie.
Careful what you wish for, Frank. 20+ years ago my sister and I made a BIG DEAL out of how her kids HAD to watch Buckaroo Banzai because it was SO FUNNY. It did not go over well. Could not believe how poorly it had aged.

If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

In a ranking of Star Wars films, Governor JB Pritzker listed The Rise of Skywalker as the worst one, so yes, he pretty much has my support if he runs for President.

The French Legionnaires involved in the assassination of Charlie Kirk? Candice Owens has receipts.

I dig it.
How about "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum"?
November 25, 2025 at 4:11 AM
I saw It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World when it first opened. At the age of 7 I authoritatively told everyone it was the funniest film ever made. Now I wouldn't even put it in my top 500. But it's foundational to me. I will never not consider it magnificent.
It’s a terrible movie.
It was filmed in the Coachella Valley. My dad took us to see it and boy did he hate it.

That's reasonable. But don't waste your time looking for footage of Jimmy Durante being anywhere near as hilarious as Joe Besser playing Stinky on The Abbott and Costello Show because I'm telling you it doesn't exist.
I'll say this though - I think I'd rather watch Jimmy Durante in a movie than Joe Besser.
November 25, 2025 at 2:23 AM
Yes, from what I've read and heard, everybody loved him. And I'm sure he was a sensationally entertaining live act.
Seems like he was probably a good hang behind the scenes, though.
November 25, 2025 at 2:19 AM
I am perfectly fine with this response. I realize I was posting Jimmy Durante rage-bait and I'm ready to accept the consequences.
That is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I was like 15-17? It's a million hours long and I was dying.

IDK how it holds up to me now, but it was amazing.

And Jimmy Durante is a treasure. WTF is this moron on about?
November 25, 2025 at 2:16 AM
I'm afraid you'll have to present the jury with more evidence than this.
November 25, 2025 at 2:14 AM
Once again, yes, he was good in that, but the fact that he was basically playing a talking Harpo just emphasizes to me how not nearly as funny as Harpo he ever was.
How about in, “The Man Who Came to Dinner,” with Bette Davis, Monte Wooly, and Ann Sheridan?
