Any time there's an event like this, Superbowl or Olympics, unhoused people are immediately targeted cuz the policy is "out of sight, out of mind". But it's never "hey, let's get you guys services". Louisiana held people in a unheated warehouse on threat of arrest. That 90d temp shelter cost $17.5m.

I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?
