before the skies cleared and the sun set this evening, Nicole @nicoleharvel.bsky.social captured some stunning glimpses of our treatment plants' flurry of activity between the flakes.

snow doesn't slow the flow.

and weather won't stop the work.

“Dearest manager:

I know not which is worse. The snow that seems to cut my frozen skin like blades—or the wind that fills my ears like the chorus of a thousand wails.

The endurance of the crew of the Easterly treatment plant is a marvel. I press on.

In public service,

And that crushing feeling when you turn on the tv and realize your sewer just scrolled by and you missed it and have to wait 10 more minutes.

kids will never understand that rush we felt, huddling around the radio or TV morning news on a wild winter weekday, fingers-crossed waiting to find out if our sewers were closed for a snow day.

the numbers are in: We treated 89 billion gallons of water in 2025.

that's 243 million gallons a day.

or 10 million gallons per hour.

or 170,000 gallons per minute.

2,800 gallons every second.

Despite our record of excellence managing browns for the last 54 years, our reliability working in the trenches, and decades of experience building systems from the ground up, no, we are not in the running for Cleveland's next head coach.

Thank you.

the end of a year is like a sewer.

some see a past filled with crap and regret, foul memories of yesterdays flushed into darkness but not forgotten.

others see it as a transition to something better, a rush towards transformation. Renewal. Opportunity.

both true—

for sewers imitate life.

quite the contrary, i wish more of us could achieve this level of sanity.
You know your sanity is slowly slipping away when you go on vacation and take a picture of one of @neorsd.org 's relatives. Or maybe it's that they just inspire a sense of whimsy. 😊

if you’re counting down in northeast Ohio, there only about 245 million gallons of crap left in 2025.
