Racism is baked in the fabric of this country from the beginning.

You can deride Critical Race Theory as “woke” all you want, but you can’t fight reality.
If White America wanted to end racism, they would.

Great thread. Half of these people fo not know what poor is. Like having no bathroom, heat, air healthcare, no food etc. I'm not proud of it but that was my life and still gp through things.
When yall say things like everyone is poor it makes me realize that you have not actually looked poverty in the face.

It is absolutely disingenuous for anyone to liken him/herself to people who cannot pay bills, who are unhoused, who truly have empty cupboards, who do not have warm sheets.

A college level teacher is put on leave for, politely and eloquently, explaining to a student that some academia requires empirical information over your personal reckons.

And this is how some universities make their qualifications less than worthless.

"They were perfect like my phone call where I got impeached."

So, they were completely damning, actually.
Reporter: Governor Walz called for the release of your MRI results

Trump: They were perfect like my phone call where I got impeached.

Reporter: Can you tell us what they were looking at?

Trump: I have no idea. It was just an MRI. It wasn’t the brain because I took a cognitive test and aced it.

This is all true but

1) under no definition are we currently at war with Venezuela under domestic US law

2) since we aren’t, the initial strike was just as much a murder as the follow up

The failure to understand this by a huge range of actors is really driving me up the wall.
If the Venezuelan sailors were enemy combatants, then the 2nd strike is a war crime.

If the Venezuelan sailors weren’t enemy combatants, then both strikes are criminal murder.

It’s that simple.

...where are these states? Are they in the room with us?
HASSETT: Gas prices dropped below $2 a gallon in a lot of places

CORDES: Gas prices on average are still at $3 a galloon

HASSETT: For a few states they got below $2

One of the hopes that got me through 2020 was thinking that we might actually learn something about the importance of public health and the role of government in society.

And here we are.
6 years today the first COVID case was identified in a man in Wuhan marking the beginning of a global pandemic that changed the world. We are way less prepared today to face another pandemic than we were back then. This fact makes me sad.

Some ppl have seemingly forgot that political news media spun up a "Biden secretly has parkinsons" story out of a doctor visiting the WH while the admin was working on Parkinsons policy or that Nuzzis big "Biden didnt remember me" piece was written when she was secretly working for RFK Jrs campaign
The actual "worse than watergate" scandal is how much news media collectively worked to ratfuck a Democratic presidency by largely inventing health/mental acuity concerns for hyperventilate about while largely ignoring the very real & worsening issues in front of their faces from Trump
Both taken this weekend:

We're in a really, truly terrible fucking place with academia right now. Thanks to people who sat on their asses or voted for grifters like Jill Stein last year, it's only going to get worse.

the primary thing that TPUSA provides to young conservatives is a blueprint for weaponizing the abject cowardice of university administrators against individual teachers and instructors, and university admins should take a long look in the mirror and think about what that says about them

In 1974, Gary Tyler was a Black student bussed into a newly desegregated Louisiana high school. When a white mob attacked his bus and a white student was killed, Gary was wrongfully sentenced to death by an all white jury.

Tyler’s case shows how bias, fear, and discrimination drive wrongful convictions — and why confronting racial injustice in the legal system remains urgent today.

It’s nice that the person I see around these parts sometimes who stereotypically makes heart eyes at antisemitic tropes in TV and film doesn’t also stereotypically hate the gays. Progress in some directions, at least!

The comparison is always "nobody thought the iPhone would work" but the thing that misses is that nobody had to be CONVINCED to use an iPhone. Everyone who saw one wanted one.

They're shoving AI in our faces in a desperate ploy to make us want it and WE DON'T.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

The angry sick person answer I have to this is it was pretty charming when other people cared if I lived or died.

The fun Jessica answer is the night my husband and I found an hour and a half long video on Amazon that was just vintage movie theater ads, and watched it in total rapture.
What's a charming memory you have from the worst period of the pandemic?
