Turns out the one where Billy Ocean performs in a Great Value Mos Eisley Cantina has kind of a problematic ending.

My friends all worked at a movie theater, and they arranged for a just-friends midnight showing of MORTAL KOMBAT (1995). There was a great deal of hooting, hollering, irresponsible drinking, and general shaking our fists at the yawing abyss of adulthood.
What’s your best memory of watching a movie? I’m not asking what the best movie you’ve ever seen is, I’m asking about the experience of watching that movie. Doesn’t matter if it was in a theater or at home. What’s your favorite memory associated with watching a movie and why?

Funniest McSweeney’s piece I’ve read in awhile: The Mastermind Box Cover: What the Hell Were They Thinking? “Warmth is for Sorry! This is not a hug. This is a chess clock in a stranger’s living room telling you your parents are getting divorced.” [mcsweeneys.net]

Nintendo’s Hideki Konno directed Ice Hockey and Super Mario Kart. He was assistant director on Super Mario Bros. 2. The man has a passion for letting players decide how much their character weighs.

The line goes from DEVO to They Might Be Giants to THE ADVENTURES OF PETE AND PETE. Also David Lynch is rattling around in there somewhere.

I just need one shot at demonstrating my natural talent for that thing at the aquarium where you lead all of the penguins on a tour of the facility after hours. I’m sure I would be great at it.

Pro sports arenas should have at least one very special food you can buy while you’re there. You can have bottom of the barrel nachos and hotdogs and whatnot but there should be one stand with a ridiculous grown-up sandwich or Detroit style pizza or extra fancy pierogis or what-have-you.
