Is it too early to start talking about what we're going to nominate at NEXT YEAR's Hugos? The ones in 2026?

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a wonderful lovely game one that I love so much and I’m so glad that it came out when it did and was received so well ——— but let’s not forget the wonderful lovely JRPG games that came before it and deeply inspired the developers to craft this game.

Gonna be blunt. If The Sentence by @gautambhatia88.bsky.social had been a Hugo finalist, it would have been the top of my ballot.

It’s really fantastic to see @theignyteawards.bsky.social honour this truly superb novel.

I hope this gets it in front of more readers.

Oh yeah, I have a short story about this very scenario (well, trying to prevent it from happening). The research was both fun and horrifying?? Mostly horrifying actually. Less fun.

Low Earth orbit is filling up. Not just with #satellites, but also with dangerous, tumbling debris. As they collide, they multiply. If we do nothing, satellites will crash, creating chaos on Earth below. Meet the people trying to prevent this disaster. spectrum.ieee.org/kessler-synd...

I want to add that the author was a super cool dude. Born into slavery, became a lawyer and practiced civil rights cases in Raleigh North Carolina. Ran for congress.

The book depicts the integration of the labour union movement being integral to getting workers rights for Black Americans.

I sort of love Tron Legacy. It’s just so epic looking. And I kind of dig the weird story.
hugobookclub.bsky.social
Does anyone actually like Jared Leto as an actor? Is there a single movie that was improved by his presence?
hugobookclub.bsky.social
Sorry to disagree: The Matrix is the best Tron update.
hugobookclub.bsky.social
If it had a good script and a lead actor who isn’t a douchebag, then I swear to jah it would have been a success.

Problem is that the biggest Tron fan I know saw it and his reaction was “it just made me sad to see a movie this bad branded as a Tron movie.”

I'm perplexed at watching pundits in the trades struggling to explain Tron Ares' disappointing opening.

Was it covid? Do people just not like science fiction? etc. etc.

The main reason is pretty obvious: Tron isn't a popular franchise. Nobody's interested in nostalgia for a failed 1980s project.

That makes sense. I like clear, unambiguous rules that brook no middle ground.

First look at the ‘Wonder Man’ film in the Disney+ ‘WONDER MAN’ series.

The series will follow Simon Williams as he auditions for a role in a reboot of the classic ‘Wonder Man’ film.

Thank you for clarifying that. It's helpful to know.

Of all the works ever shortlisted for a Hugo Award, possibly the most difficult to read or watch is Murder and the Android.

Your best opportunity to watch it will be during LAcon V next summer in Los Angeles.

The story about it is utterly wild. Strap in.

It's really kind of great.

@yarntheory.bsky.social is one of the writers I keep expecting to be a Hugo finalist.

This collection of interconnected short stories by @yarntheory.bsky.social is nominated for the Ursula K. Le Guin prize (for good reason). The final story is easily my favorite. Highly recommended!
Hand holding a book by Ursula Whitcher called North Contient Ribbon. The cover depicts a sprawling green landscape with an elevated railway leading to a tower. There’s a lake next to it and some white birds. In the bottom center is someone in a green cloak with their back turned.
