Really love how this guy posted this on TikTok thinking the woman who broke his Meta glasses would come off as the villain, as opposed to him, the guy recording her without her consent for social media content via a surveillance device made by one of the worst companies on earth
Woman Hailed as Hero for Smashing Man's Meta Smart Glasses on Subway
A New York subway rider has accused a woman of breaking his Meta smart glasses. She was later hailed as a hero.

the tonic salesman, the used car salesman, the diet fad people and always having a new schtick, the vaporware tech guys in silicon valley spouting a fresh set of buzzwords every year - america is cruel, yes, but in the heart of that cruelty: it is also cheap, and it is tacky.

the specific flavor of america's terribleness is centered in the heart of those 'tonic salesman' types of the past and their inheritors. it is not just that america is selling you bullshit. it is not just that it's poisonous. it is also that the sales pitch itself is incredibly fucking gaudy.

In conclusion there was only ever one good alt-comix guy, it definitely wasn't Harvey Pekar or Bob Crumb, he was in the comics section of every paper and he's never received a fraction of the love he deserves

Bob Crumb coming out of retirement just to say "RFK Jr. is right about vaccines and my ex-wife should've taken more advice from me" is such a fitting end to Boomer Americana and everything the "alt-comix" movement claimed to stand for

The fact is that Netflix is probably going to let Warner be for a good long while, which is completely different from Paramount who would tear EVERYTHING down in 5 seconds.
There are lots of angles to the Netflix/WB deal, and plenty of reasons for concern. Media consolidation? Not great! That very significant caveat aside, there's reason to be hopeful that maybe the Netflix-HBO of it all will be... not bad? Up now at @vulture.com

Maybe Netflix Will Be Good for HBO
“It may be the least worst option,” one HBO insider said of the deal.

Sex workers have been warning people for years about censorship, especially how payment processors like Visa & Mastercard weaponize “morality”.

NSFW artists are being affected by it, though if some had some sort of solidarity with SWers, they would have already known what was coming and acted.

"the union is a third party, let's resolve our issues directly" is a common management anti-union talking point, but I think pro-union folks also too often think of "the union" as a separate entity that can solve their problems for them, instead of a vehicle for members to create change themselves.
I think we need to change the way we talk about SAG-AFTRA. Not a dig at Jeff here (I too would like to see a SAG-AFTRA Amazon Agreement,) but we've got to stop referring to SAG-AFTRA as an organization that can just "step in" and do stuff.
I just wanna see SAG-AFTRA step in & establish a dubbing agreement with Amazon much like the Netflix agreement. That would be the best path forward.
