And that's why it doesn't work as a metaphor for actual minorities but an interesting sci-fi morality play.

Tuesday night August 2nd, 1977: what would you watch?

Not saying it’s an easy moral choice but I’d think if say, Magneto or Jean Grey existed in real life, we’d want to know where they were.

Every time I see a post or video like this, no matter where in the world the stereotype they’re referring to is, it’s almost always from a traditionally attractive white woman. 🤔

It feels wrong to say, but if you believe in gun control in real life, registering people much more dangerous makes sense, sadly.

Keep in mind it was made by the same network that just stopped airing this 3 years prior.

12319. Danny "Pilot" - A Daniel Stern single cam from 2003. Stern is charming but like so many failed sitcoms there's way too many characters, a bad work/home split and, unique to 00's single cams, way way way too much loud music. Typical. (C)

Classic TV streaming update: I don't know if this is a first time, but it's the first time I've noticed it, as of this morning the horror anthology Freddy's Nightmares is available on both Tubi and Plex.

"Adventures of Little Rodney" by Jimmy Caborn, 1937-1955
November 12th, 1939 as seen in the Cleveland Plain Dealer
Single panel comic strip "Adventures of Little Rodney." Rodney has the measles and has to quarantine, but assumes it'll be alright as long as he wears a big sign saying "MEASLES" around his neck.

Watching a video about a North Korean defectors first experience with American television and I was not expecting that this was the show that blew her mind.

12318. Me & the Boys “Every Good Boy Does Fine” - A pretty dull episode of Steve Harvey’s pretty dull family sitcom from the kid 90’s. It only really has any spark when Harvey starts to riff, like many stand up based sitcoms of the era. (C+)

12317. Singer & Sons “Two Sons for Singer” - The one where Harold Gould “adopts” Esther Rolle’s adult sons into his title Jewish deli. A good premise, decent pilot but if I wasn’t the sicko I am I wouldn’t have remembered to watch it the next week. (C+)

12316. Raising Miranda “Black Monday” - A comedy set two days after a wife leaves her husband & teenage daughter with Bryan Cranston as, effectively, Cost from Step by Step. It’s pretty darn good, I really wish I could find the other 6 aired episodes. (B+)

It gives geography obsessed kids like yours and mine something to correct, so it’s great that way (and not just that it’s 30 years out of date).
